the megalesia was a festival celebrated in rome from the 4th-10th april. there were games and plays held in her honour, as well as public pageants led by her priests, the galli. the festivities culminated in the public procession of the goddess' statue to the circus maximus, where chariot races were held for her.
this year, i plan to celebrate by hosting parties - since the roman elite would be expected to compete with each other by holding the most elaborate parties (easily done since it's also my birthday over this period), burning incense for cybele, and dancing!

i love my friends but one of them is a christian and seems incapable of understanding why some people might have a negative perception of christianity, and the other is a dedicated atheist who thinks all religion is nothing more than hopeless escapism and an excuse for bigotry. so. makes conversations surrounding my faith quite awkward
