Which Greek deity deserves more jewelry inspired by them? 👀
While going through the responses to my Greek mythology jewelry survey, something keeps coming up:
People want to see more than the same handful of Olympians represented.
One response in particular gave me quite the wishlist:
“Jewelry inspired by lesser known/not as talked about gods or personifications, such as Momus, Oizys, Hypnos, Thanatos, Phobos, Deimos, Enyo, Hestia…”
And they weren’t the only one.
Other responses mentioned Prometheus, Alectryon, monsters and mythological figures that rarely seem to make it into contemporary jewelry.
And I find this really interesting.
When we think of Greek mythology-inspired jewelry, we tend to see the same names again and again: Aphrodite, Athena, Apollo, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades…
Meanwhile, Greek mythology is absolutely overflowing with gods, daimones, personifications, heroes, monsters and other figures with fascinating symbolism that rarely get represented.
So I want to hand this one over to Tumblr:
If you could choose ONE Greek deity or mythological figure to receive their own jewelry design, who would you choose?

I’m particularly interested in symbols that go beyond the most obvious modern associations, whether they come from mythology, ancient cult practices, epithets, sacred animals, plants or objects.
I’m collecting all of this as part of my research while developing APHRES, a contemporary jewelry project inspired by Greek mythology and Hellenic symbolism.
