I finally got around to coloring @fantomexnoir’s awesomely frightening sketch of the unmasking scene! I wanted to make it really dynamic, but I may have overdone it 😅

@fantomexnoir said: "Sprezzatura. I have heard it means ‘the effortless display of grace.' ...I see no evidence of sprezzatura." |['Cause both lines worked and I gotta harass Elsa somehow. XD]| ballroom dialogue prompts | accepting
“Yes, well...I’ve never really been one to dance, even at balls,” came the sheepish reply.
Elsa could almost certainly count on one hand the number of times she had let herself be persuaded to accept an invitation to dance, and not once had it been a comfortable experience. Never before, however, had anyone actually commented on her rather lacking skills on the ballroom floor; possibly because it would be impolite, but the more probable cause was her title.
This man, however, had not hesitated. Elsa was caught by surprise, and yet somehow relieved. Rare was the chance to be spoken to as a person and not a queen. She half-wondered if it was the masks; this was the first time the Arendelle winter ball had been a masquerade, and perhaps the level of anonymity granted when faces were obscured gave the people a new sense of comfort or boldness.
On the other hand, though the man’s mask covered his face entirely (unlike the one of delicately crafted ice, which hardly obscured her identity), she doubted he was a subject of Arendelle. It was the voice, really, that gave that much away. There was something beautiful and melodic about it, even as he critiqued her, that made Elsa feel certain they had never met before---who would ever forget hearing a voice like that, after all?
“I hope my lack of sprezzatura isn’t going to ruin your enjoyment of the ball.”
|[What, pray tell, are your pronouns? I'm a bit on the late side for your entire present but I do want to get the first part done and I'd like to be accurate. ♥]|
Present 👀👀👀👀👀??? My pronouns are she/her. Thank you so much, whatever it is you're doing 👀❤️!!!
"How good it is to see you again, my dear. I should hope that you've kept in fine voice in my absence."
“Of course.”
That answer came easily, for it was entirely truthful. Christine had not allowed her instrument to go unused and lose the fine-tuning it had gained under the tutelage of the “Angel”. Somewhat out of responsibility—she had a role to perform, she must not let the opera company down–but also out of fear. She had known better than to think (or even dare hope!) that Erik’s absence would be anything but temporary, and she had dreaded the thought of the anger he might display should she allow her voice to grow weak and soulless.
She could not, however, be truthful about the feelings that filled her upon his return. She dared not speak aloud the fear that tugged at her heart, though she was certain it was not a secret. Even if Erik did know, it was better for all if she donned a mask of her own in his presence, albeit not as literal as the one that shielded his deathly visage.
“You were gone quite a long time, Erik. But you did teach me well, and I did not miss even one day of practice.”

@fantomexnoir
It’s been a long time since she’s come anywhere near him, anywhere near anywhere that even smells like him.
She’s changed a fair amount herself, though-- fifteen years does that to a person. SeeD is a retirement ceremony and a box full of commendations and honors, a steady pension dropped into her bank account now. Her son is starting middle school next week (private school, the best in the city, and it’s the only reason she’s even anywhere near this end of town today, doing her own last security sweep of the building.)
Xu is a different person entirely, and so that’s why she stands across the street, hands in her pockets and one wrapped around the knife she’s stashed, before she even draws upon reserves of courage to cross the street.
This is a stupid idea. But she’s had worse. Xu does a quick jog from one curb to the other, practical boots a concession to the wet weather. The building looks decrepit, the club gone.
She pushes open the door, anyway. Just for a quick look. Really.

This is based on @fantomexnoir’s amazingly creepy sketch from last November. I couldn’t get it out of my head, so I took a stab at creating my vision. @fantomexnoir has given me permission to post this and I really hope I did justice to the original piece! I wanted Erik to be scary AF 💀
Also, this is appropriate for @timebird84’s Spooky Phantober prompt for today: Fear 😱
