Alternates
Because the Darcy Lewis Bingo Mod Team are writers and artists ourselves, we understand that not all prompts are created equal and, therefore, are not necessarily inspiring to all creators. So, for 2024-25, we are including a list of 10 fun, spooky alternate prompts you’re welcome to use on any day you get stumped by the creator prompts we’ve supplied above. Each alternate prompt may only be used once, however, so use them wisely and don’t take them for granted. These are not easier prompts by any means! And don’t forget that all of your Promptober fills must incorporate our beloved Lady of the Astrophysics Lab, Dr. Darcy Lewis!
A1. a 2-sentence horror story (req.: cannot be longer than 2 sentences & must tell a complete horror story)
A2. Darcy’s First Halloween
A3. a Halloween Darcy drabble (req.: exactly 100 words)
A4. the Avengers go out on Halloween Night in New York City
A5. an onomatopoeic story or poem (req.: must include at least 13 onomatopoetic words)
A6. a Darcy retelling of the Headless Horseman (or your favorite classic spooky story)
A7. an acrostic poem about Darcy, the Avengers, and Halloween
A8. The Mummy AU
A9. an autumnal Darcy haiku
A10. record a podfic (with permission) of a friend’s spookiest Darcy fic
With our alternates, this means every player begins this round of Promptober with a whopping 103 spooky season prompts. We can’t wait to see what you make of them in the year to come. Have a spooky time creating, Darcy Friends!
Promptober 2024 is a list of 31 this-that-or-the-other prompt themes handpicked by our mod team to cross international borders for creators to choose from to create spooky, oogie, or hygge fanworks for the autumn & Halloween season (or for Scary Christmas, Valloween/St. Guillotine’s Day, Half-Halloween, Gay Halloween!, Summerween, Scary Christmas in July, or Autumn Down Under for our Aussie creators). We continue to be not your mom so we’re not here to tell you when or how long you can celebrate your Spooky Season. Here at Darcy Lewis Bingo HQ, all your spooky holiday lifestyle choices are valid. In fact…
Important Dates & Deadlines
Promptober begins on August 3rd, 2024 this round, but you know how we feel about deadlines. 🔪 So, for this round of Promptober, we’re doing away entirely with hard deadlines and we mean it! You have from August 3rd, 2024 until our next Halloween event begins, and even beyond that, if you like! Though we do strongly recommend wrapping up this challenge before the next spooky challenge begins, this event remains open basically as long as this bingo exists. No pressure to complete, ever, just inspo and encouragement. 🧡
Promptober Challenges
Promptober Mini Challenge: choose and complete fannish works for any 13 of the prompts from this list for our mini challenge. Creators may choose 13 prompts from the list of prompts—any 13 prompts at all!
Promptober Mega Challenge: choose and complete fannish works for 31 of the listed prompts for our spooky main event! Creators may choose any 31 of the total 93 prompts listed to complete this event.
For an extra personal challenge, you may limit yourself to only posting a fanwork inspired by one of the prompts listed by the number that corresponds to each day of October for every day of the month all month long, but it’s absolutely not required for completion of this event. We want you to succeed and create, and to share new Darcy works, so our goal is always to support you in your fannish creative endeavors and make that as easy as possible.
*If you post every day in October as a personal challenge, mention us @darcylewisbingohq in your tumblr posts to let us know you’ve posted a new work or update so we can reblog your daily posts in as close to real time as possible. Once we’ve left a like on your post, rest assured: that means it’s in our queue, just waiting its turn to be featured on our blog.
Promptober 2024 Guidelines
Promptober fills must prominently feature our beloved Lady of Astrophysics, Dr. Darcy Lewis!
Promptober creators have all of our 2024-2025 round to work on this event! If you want to work on it the whole year until we release the next spooky season event, we encourage you to do that. If spooky challenges are particularly your jam, we’d love to see what you do with ours when you’ve got the whole year to tackle it!
entries—Your fanwork is NOT required to use the prompt exactly as it appears on this list. Prompts need only inspire your fanwork, whether they appear word for word in it or not. However the prompt inspires you is correct, as far as we’re concerned. Subvert the prompt, reverse the prompt, marry the prompt—it’s up to you.
All forms of fannish works are accepted and encouraged for this event! Fanfic, fanart, poetry, podfics, fanvids, playlists, fiber and other crafts, fan edits, moodboards, etc.
You may start posting your Promptober fanworks as soon as they’re ready to share. No need to wait until October and no need to rush to get them all done in that month, either.
Fanwork Fill Requirements
100 words for written works or word art, with the exception of poetry with independent formatting rules (such as haikus).
1 image for artwork or handcrafts of any kind and a description for the visually impaired of the medium used and what it represents.
1 image for cosplay or character-bounding and a description for the visually impaired of cosplay or clothing and any other fashion influences incorporated into the costume or clothing (be descriptive! talk about fabrics and colors, tone and texture! describe the emotions the colors you used evoke in you as the creator!)
9 elements for moodboards (background, images, texts, ephemera) and a description for the visually impaired of the moodboard and what it represents.
6 images for social media AUs and a description for the visually impaired of the creation and what it represents.
10 songs for playlists and a text list of artists and songs to give credit to the original artists, plus a description for the visually impaired of what the playlist represents and how it relates to Darcy.
Still not sure if your creation will meet the minimum prompt fill requirements? @ a mod! we’ll create new requirements based on new types of creator fanwork submissions, as needed.
These participation requirements are identical to our annual bingo event; those guidelines are always pinned at the top of our tumblr blog where they’re easy to find; the link to those guidelines and fill requirements can also be found on Discord in our #bingo-info channel.
This year's Katoberfest will be held October 20-27, 2024.
There are seven days of prompts + a free day:
Sunday October 20: Sleeping under the stars or “I care for you.”
Monday October 21: Outsider POV or “You made your choice.”
Tuesday October 22: Doors don't work that way or “I could never leave you behind.”
Wednesday October 23: Prank war or “Drop the attitude.”
Thursday October 24: Seated together at the bar or “You don’t seem like yourself.”
Friday October 25: Kat can’t sleep or “Are you sure you want to do this? Because there’s no turning back.”
Saturday October 26: Where is Katrina Cornwell right now?
Sunday October 27: Free Day
There are extra challenges:
The Katrina: post every day
The Cornwell: combine both of the day’s prompts into one work
The Vice Admiral: Kat is dead but [your choice] can still see her
The Admiral: create one work that includes at least five of the fifteen available prompts.
The Price of Command: Kat glimpses what her life may have been if one pivotal event had not happened, or had happened differently.
There are no requirements or limits to any medium (e.g. word count, art style, length of vid or pod, etc.).
You may answer as many, or as few, as you like and there is no specific format. The prompts are jumping off points and may be considered in universe or meta. Answers may take the form of essay, discussion, fiction, artwork, bulleted lists, gifsets, vids, vlogs, comics, whatever! It is also fine to answer prompts on a different day than that which corresponds with the prompt (if you miss it, or it is simply easier for you). There is no right or wrong way to participate! The purpose of Katoberfest is to celebrate Admiral Cornwell, not create work or drama.
When sharing on social media, tag your posts #Katoberfest2024. We will reblog and retweet all tagged posts.
I've decided to combine my two favorite things and launch an October Challenge!
Forever Halloween is one of the best albums from my favorite band, The Maine.
All throughout October, I will be posting Stranger Things fics based on the songs from the album, and I'm inviting anyone who feels like it to join me. You can post fics, fanart, any kind of fanwork you like from any fandom you're in. There are no rules except that it must be posted in October, but you can do whatever order you want to, you can leave some of the songs out, just have a blast and enjoy yourself!
I'll be using the tag #fhchallenge23 to label everything for this challenge, so it's easier to follow along through my blog.
Bare in mind that some of the works might contain angsty or even darker themes - a new one for me, personally! - because of the themes of the songs itselves. So If you decide to join please don't forget to tag the proper warnings in your entries.
I'm very excited and hope you'll join me - either posting your own fanwork for the challenge, or reading and sharing my fics. ♡
I'm super hyped for The Owl House Season 2B premiere so I wanted to make a little event! Now that we have a concrete date, I'm going to do a countdown. On each of these dates, I'm going to post a work inspired by my favorite scene in an episode. Anyone is welcome to join. You can post anything you want: fanart, screenshots, quotes, gifs, music, etc.
This is just for fun, so there's absolutely no pressure. I've just wanted to do something like this for a while.
Welcome to week 1 of the Games. All Week 1 challenges are worth their full listed point values until June 28th 7 p.m. UTC. After that, they are worth half their listed point values. Remember to use this week's Finish Line to claim your points!
Not all challenges apply to all work types, but if you find a way to make a challenge work for your work type, go for it. If you are unsure how to apply a challenge to a specific work type, you can always shoot us a message or ask your fellow team members on Discord.
It’s a Party (all work types; 5 points):
Collaborate with at least three other people to create one work to which everyone contributes, or to create multiple works that belong together. For multiple works, this must include at least two different work types, e.g. fic + podfic + moodboard, one fic with multiple accompanying pieces of art, etc. Every collaborator that contributes in a meaningful way may submit the work for points (i.e. submit to the finish line with themself listed as the creator and all of the other collaborators listed in the “additional creators” field).
The minimum requirement for each work is that work type’s standard minimum requirement times the number of people contributing to it (e.g. if two people write a fic together, the minimum word count is 200 words rather than 100).
New Shoes (all work types; 3 points):
Create a work using a POV (Point of View) or voice you have never used before. POV = from the perspective of a particular character, including outsider POV. Voice = first person, second person, third person, omniscient narrator, etc.
Live on Air (podfic; 3 points):
Record a live reading of a fic, including any reactions from you and your audience. Audible audience members are not eligible for points.
Comic Time (art/edit/vid; 2 points):
Create a short comic strip or series of images, with or without words.
Welcome to the first round of the Lights on Park Ave Steve/Tony prompt challenge! Every month, there will be several prompts following a general theme. Each round will last the entire month, and everyone is welcome to make fanworks inspired by one or more of those prompts during the round.
The guidelines are as follows:
ACCEPTABLE WORKS
Art, crafts, fics, graphics/edits, gifs, manips, mood boards, and videos
All works must be new works created solely for this challenge. You cannot use works that are already finished although you are welcome to expand on an existing work you made. Please do not make a work inspired by someone else’s work/remix someone else’s work unless they have given you permission
All subjects, ratings, and universes are accepted
There is no minimum work requirement! If you want to write two lines or draw a rough sketch, that’s fine. If you want to make works for every single prompt, go for it
THE STEVE/TONY PART OF THE CHALLENGE
Works must focus on Steve and Tony’s relationship whether it’s gen or slash
Works featuring or focusing on only Steve or only Tony are okay
Other relationships (e.g., Bucky/Natasha) can be featured as long as Steve and Tony are the predominant focus of the work
All relationship permutations are accepted. Pre-slash, unrequited love, requited love, mutual or one-sided pining, established relationship, breakup…go wild! However, if Steve and/or Tony are in a relationship at the end of the work, Steve/Tony must be endgame
CHALLENGE ROUNDS
Tag #lightsonparkave and/or mention @lightsonparkave to be reblogged
Add your work to the Lights on Park Ave collection if you post it on AO3
A master list of all the works for the current round will go up on the last day of each month, and a new round starts the first day of every month (NOTE: ROUND 1 IS THE EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE DUE TO THE LATE LAUNCH DATE. IT WILL CLOSE ON SEPTEMBER 21 TO GIVE EVERYONE A MONTH TO SUBMIT WORKS)
Anyone can jump in at any time during the round
You are welcome to fill old rounds/prompts! If you do, please note which prompt it is for. Your work will be reblogged/shared, and old master lists will be edited to include your fill although they won’t be reblogged
Any questions? Send an ask or DM.
Last but not least, I’d like to give a shoutout to @phenominablesnowman, who ran @890fifth several years ago, a biweekly Steve/Tony fanworks challenge that served as the inspiration for this challenge. Thank you for the wonderful prompts, phen; 890fifth was a lot of fun, and I hope that this will be just as fun for people.

Daredevil Bingo is a challenge in the spirit of other fandom bingo challenges (kink_bingo, cottoncandy_bingo, xmfc_bingo, etc.) Participants sign up for a randomized bingo card and then create fanworks to complete a “bingo” down, across, or diagonally on the card. If a participant completes a bingo during a round, they can request a new card.
While Daredevil Bingo is largely focused on the current Netflix TV series and the wider Marvel Netflix universe (Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, The Punisher), fanworks related to the comics are welcome!
Timeline:
Round One sign-ups begin: November 8, 2018
Round One ends: November 8, 2019*
(*this may be subject to some adjustment, particularly if any further show airdates are established, but the round will last for AT LEAST one year)
The Goal
Once you have signed up and received your Bingo card, your goal is to achieve a Bingo horizontally, vertically, or diagonally by creating fanworks based on the prompts on your card. You can also aim for a Blackout, which would be achieved by creating fanworks for EVERY prompt on your card, as well as other Bingo Extras (TBA).
In order to “win” at Daredevil Bingo, you must achieve at least one Bingo by November 8, 2019. Winners will receive a banner celebrating their achievement and the chance to request an additional card, if desired.
The Prompts
A list of the prompts for this round will be released before sign ups begin. When you sign up, you'll be given the opportunity to select the prompt categories you wish to see used in the creation of your card (two categories minimum), and the chance to strike up to 10 individual prompts, meaning they will be removed before your card is auto-generated.
The Rules
1. Be respectful. Be nice. YKINMKATO.
2. All types of fanworks are allowed. Fic, art, meta, podfic, mixes, translations, graphics, crafts… if you have an idea, go for it!
3. Every size/length of fanwork is welcome.
3. All fanworks must be centered around Daredevil (Netflix or comics) characters, or characters from the wider Marvel Netflix universe (Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, The Defenders).
4. Only newly-posted fanworks may be used for Daredevil Bingo.
5. All fanworks must be finished prior to being used for this challenge.
6. When you’ve completed a work, post it wherever you prefer (tumblr, Ao3, dreamwidth, etc.) If you’d like to see it on the challenge blog, make a tumblr post including and/or linking to the work, and tag it with “daredevil bingo.” (You may also want to @daredevilbingo as well.) The work will be reblogged to the community.
7. Required warnings for this challenge are: Major Character Death, Rape/Noncon, Underage, and Graphic Depictions of Violence. You may also Choose Not to Warn. These warnings should be included on any posts you want to see reblogged to the challenge tumblr.
8. If you're posting your fanworks to Ao3, please consider adding them to the Daredevil Bingo collection.
More info to come soon! In the meantime, help spreading the word via reblogs, shares, etc., would be much appreciated! ♥
