now was doing all that really necessary
Far was one of those emo/post-hardcore-ish bands that had a little bit of commercial success before the post-whatevercore boom on the aughts (and therefore before I started paying attention to pop/rock music). They definitely have more of a nineties alt rock sound than, say, Clarity/Static Prevails-era Jimmy Eat World or Sunny Day Real Estate, but to be fair that’s probably because classic post-hardcore bands like Quicksand had a huge influence not only on post-hardcore but also on nu-metal bands like Deftones (who are actually good, and being good doesn’t negate the fact that they’re a nu-metal band).
