I just had to look up bus fares for Mam (after the car got pranged on Friday) and it made me realise:
The Brighton & Hove Bus fare system is a complete mindfuck.
There's the standard fare, and a centrefare for journeys that stay in the 'city centre zone', and a short hop fare for short journeys outside the centrefare zone plus two city-centre journeys that tourists often do. There are also various local fares for services that are quite far from the city but still run by B&H Bus.
Then there's the citySaver, which gives you 1 day's unlimited travel in an area around the city and has various prices depending on whether you buy it online, for the phone app, from the driver or from a post office. There's also a daySaver, which may or may not be the same thing. There are also weekly, monthly, 3-monthly, yearly and continuous tickets. If you're on the phone app you can also get 2- and 3-day savers.
That's without factoring in children's and students' fares (which are cheaper for a given value of cheap) or the Explorer (1 day's unlimited travel in Sussex) or the Family Explorer (1 or 2 adults with up to 3 children).
And I haven't even looked up PlusBus tickets yet...
