wait what? which band?
the pr/o/tomen - they did sort of, like, a rock opera dark take on the mega man games, which was fun if in a very Edgy Grimdark way. gathered a pretty significant cult following, including a bunch of people on tumblr who all friended each other and went to shows together in cool makeup and so on and so forth
and then one of the member’s ex-partner came out to say that, hey, actually, at least three members of the band are assholes who are regularly cheating on their partners with fans, who are targeting attractive younger women at shows, etc
and from there a few other people came out with stories about, hey, actually, i was targeted/harassed/groped/etc
so the fandom kinda faded, a few people kind of managed to death of the author of it and keep enjoying the music, others (like me) withdrew but stayed friends with the tumblr community, etc. it’s not quite covered up, but it’s sort of a missing stair people-warn-each-other-quietly situation
finally months later it comes out that one of the asshole members has left the band, and i make a snarky post tagged like “[band name] for tumblr savior” going “cool, he’s gone, can we fire [other harasser] next”
and three weeks after that another member of the band shows up to tell me to “stop talking shit” about them and i get a bunch of harassing anons all at once lol
