OMFUFOs, seriously?! But the Blumquists, gotta love ‘em. This episode is heart-stopping from start to finish, and as it comes to a close, you sigh from relief while still wanting more. A penultimate crafted to perfection. I cannot wait for the end.

I thought I’d try explaining my random references this week and see if people enjoy that. :)

"The History of True Crime in the Midwest" should have, "DON'T PANIC" in large, friendly letters on the cover. - Martin Freeman, star of last season and the movie HHGttG returns to narrate a guide book on True Crime. This time he brings a British accent.

Return of the War of the Worlds - several times the episodes reuses the song from the credits of the second episode. The song is from 1978 and uses the text from the HG Wells “War of the Worlds.”

Resident BAMF isn’t man enough to be Gary Cooper. Must be fake lady. - Ben Schmidt thinks Lou’s sudden reluctance to ambush the bad guys is unmanly. In Ben’s own words, Lou isn’t Gary Cooper he’s Betty La Page. This is ironic as Gary Cooper’s most famous roll is High Noon where he plays a man who initially runs away from a dangerous confrontation. Oh and don’t recognize Betty La Page? She’s a fake actress mentioned in an earlier episode this season. She shared title credits with Ronald Regan in the fake movie, Massacre at Sioux Falls. Our narrator calls the motel incident, the “Sioux Falls Massacre.” *waves fingers dramatically* FORESHADOWING.

Thats not how Radio Silence works, dumb asses. - The goal of radio silence is to hide your position and movements from the enemy. Listening to the police scanner in your hotel room isn’t a threat to this.

Pissing where you shouldn't - The poker playing cops share stories of pissing in inappropriate places. A metaphor for this entire incident, man.

Lookout on the Optometrist - Hanzee hides atop an optometrist’s office with his rifle sight as he watches the police enter the motel.

You never want to be the only black guy in the area standing over the old white ladies body when the fuzz show up. - Mike M. shows up after everyones dead. He takes one look, hears the police sirens, and nopes the hell out of there like a pro.

Best line: “I send that man a card every Christmas. Because I can.” - Delivery was great too.

Title - Reference to UFO and return of X-Files to Fox next year.

- This song plays when Betsy Solverson collapses and is thus not there to answer Lou’s phone call.
