The just opened Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station: a proud moment in New York’s civic life. The new expansion occupies part of the Farley Post Office, the Beaux Arts building designed by McKim, Mead & White in 1912. A return of sorts to the station’s roots as the same architectural firm designed the original Pennsylvania Station in 1910. The demolition of the old station in 1963 galvanized the historic preservation movement in the United States.
