WIP Wednesday (but it’s now a WIP Whenever because Tumblr hates me)

When I first found the reference for this painting I had an immediate idea for a fluffy AU involving my novel’s characters in which Alina works at a museum during closing hours and has a statue she feels particularly drawn to and talks to whenever she feels lonely. She knows it’s silly (“idk why I’m talking to you, you’re made of plaster” type thing) but she can’t help herself. Until one night when the statue disappears (hehe) and when she thinks she’s about to be super fired she comes across a strangely familiar face still holding the length of cloth he was carved with ✨
Anywayssss, as far as the actual art goes, for some reason I’ve never used white paint on a black background before, so this has all been really fun to experiment with! I smoothed him out a bit to mimic stone, while keeping her textured with brushstrokes to signify that she’s living flesh, though doing so made me think of another albeit tragic version of the story where they are lovers made up of different mediums (him stone/ her paint) that are fated to exist together but never are ‘awake’ when the other is. Who knows, I might write a short story on it sometime ;)
