one must take advantage of a random burst of energy and inspiration when one acquires it
in an effort to solve my persistent “I can’t help starting 70 each tomatoes and peppers” problem we are going to build a low tunnel with our extra pvc on the flat area on the right in this photo. then we can offload all the peppers in there and fill the high tunnel with the tomatoes and cucumbers and get everything string trellised. my partner bought 128 cubic feet of compost from one of the co-op farmers so hopefully our soil nutrition issues will work themselves out this year. as long as we don’t go into turbo drought mega hell mode and burn to a crisp this summer i have a feeling it’ll be a good season :)

ok so there's the perfect tomato, right. the one i grew a couple years ago that weighed in at almost two pounds and still tasted like the most delicious thing on earth. and last year the guy who bred the tomato died tragically, and so there are no more seeds of this tomato if you didn't save any yourself. and also last year due to all my problems i didn't manage to grow any. so i'm down to six seeds of this tomato! so these all have to germinate and grow! so that i can save the seeds and continue this guy's life's work! and what do i do with one of the six surviving seeds of this perfect tomato?
drop it on the fucking floor!!!
anyway i just spent like fifteen minutes crawling around on the floor in increasing distress. but i found it. the seed will prevail #mytomato
start cucumbers? What kind of cucumbers?
4 varieties this year: marketmore (slicing), ronda (cornichon), mandy (beit alpha), telegraph (English burpless). I buy all my seeds from fedco if you want to poke around at them. the telegraph is new to me and normally I wouldn’t bother with a long fruit but since I had success with the string trellises in the greenhouse last year i think theyll do well!
