Contacting Sam Farrow about Work Experience
When Sam Farrow, the owner came in one day to talk to us and to give us advice on our work, there was the opportunity to be chosen for work experience so this drove me to impress her. She mentioned in her talk that being polite and just a nice person gets you far. Because of the advice she gave during the talk, I took initiative and emailed her that evening saying how much I enjoyed meeting her and talking with her, and how much I appreciated the time and advice she gave me. The following day she replied with a work experience offer. This proved her point to me that being nice and polite really does get you far. Obviously there were other reasons why she chose to take me on but this was one of them. I have done research into Graphic Design companies in the area and in London and I have a shortlist of places that I will contact in the next few weeks. I also know the owner of a small Graphic Design company in Farnham and I have spoken to him about potentially shadowing him for a short time as it is a small company. The reason that I haven’t contacted many places yet is because I want to make sure my CV and business cards were perfect and reflect my potential before sending it off and i wanted to make sure that I had the best chance of impressing them.

I knew that on the first day back after christmas, Sam Farrow from Farrow Creative was coming in to look at our work and to talk to us. Therefore I took time to research into her and her company. I found it really interesting looking through their projects, especially the work they have done for Karen Brady.
Finalised dates for work experience with Farrow Creative
After contacting Sam Farrow various times to organise dates for work experience she recently got back to me to suggest when the best time to come in would be. As I said originally I was free all summer, she suggested that I do it in July/August time so that I can spend more time with them as they will be less busy. This was really considerate of her to arrange it around a time where they could spend more time with me! Now that I know these dates are official I cannot wait to start. It also means I can now start applying to other agencies as I initially thought this placement would be in April/May and didn’t want to apply before I knew the confirmed dates.
A visit from Farrow Creative by Samantha Farrow Managing and Creative Director it is very lucky to see our Business Card design displayed by the 2nd Year Group to show what we developed in the Christmas Break. From the feedback I was told the ‘Business card after’ has improved and they prefer the top design because of the 3D illusion.

What I changed from my business card Design from the Farrow Creative feedback, I removed the white circle behind my name and I expanded my name so its very clear to read.
