something very charming about this one
I have started to learn the longsword. On my way out the door my Mom said, "Hew many foemen' as fairwell. I stopped in my tracks, I could feel my eyes were wide open.
"what?" I said. I felt a start at the sound of it. I don't usually speak so shortly to Mɑmə but I was so astounded it was like the word jumped out of my mouth.
My sweet mom looked at me, unwavering, and said again clearly, "Hew many foemen."
So anyway now I have to get good at the longsword.
My mother told me to.

One of my favorite quotes, huh? I'm gonna cheat and pull a lyric that I just find fascinating for the imagery of it.
"...Various species grouped together according to their past beliefs. The only way they ever all got together, was not in love but shameful grief."
Beefheart had ODD lyrics but that line never fails to chill me to the bone.
You know, you see all these songs about they 'never felt this way before' or they thought they'd 'never find love again' and it's fine and dandy that the object of that song's affections is so amazing, but how does that make all the past lovers feel? Did they say the same thing to them? Did they think they were that special too? How would it feel to realize how inadequate you must have been that someone wrote a goddamn song about how much better this other person is? This isn't a thinly veiled angsty personal post, actually. I've just been writing too much recently to keep from wondering about the story behind the story.
