she counters back quickly  ,  turning to look at him without so much as a  hint  of discomfort.  she could do that  ,  if he wanted.  they could sleep together  ,  or fuck  ,  whatever he wanted to call it  ,  it wasn’t a bad idea.  aerith wouldn’t deny her own attraction to him  ,  &  lust is different than love.  even if she feels both for him.  her hand trails down his shoulder  ,  fingertips light against his skin before she speaks.

lust she can do.  that’s not love  ,  she’s not naive enough to think there isn’t a distance.

Her body hurt, they had made it out, made it back alive…but it didn’t diminish the pain that she felt. Honestly, Jessie felt that the best way to deal with it was to drink as much as possible and attempt to ignore the pain, it was the best medicine down here, along with rest. There were no hospitals, healers, few and far between, and medication – good luck with that. It had been an eye opening.

Despite the pain, it had stopped bleeding a while ago, Jessie was fairly confident that the penetrating wound hadn’t hit anything really important. That was the main concern. Though, she could feel it…the odd painful crawling sensation…and there was blood on her shirt.

A drink in one hand, she looked down to her side, pressed her hand against it. She could hear them laughing, Biggs being loud and Barret, everyone was celebrating. Here she was, staring at the blood on her palm like she was transfixed by it. In reality, there were just a thousands thoughts flowing through her brain at once. From how did she get out of this without anyone noticing – it would only drag the mood down and put a damper on their celebrations – to the horrible paranoid catastrophizing idea that it could be worse than she thought it was.

None of them were helpful right now.

Not when he jarred her out of her thoughts. Brown eyes lifted from her palm to him, to blue and green Mako eyes and blonde hair, then back to the red again.

Busted.
