A low growl rumbles in Jay’s chest, the alpha’s body seeming to vibrate with it. What the fuck was Jam doing using her magic to protect this girl? And why… why did this girl look so much like Evie? Was his mind playing tricks on him? Or was this possibly one of Evie’s ancestors? One problem at a time. They had both managed to go this long without anyone figuring out what they were and now his sister was risking it all for a stranger? He knew Tut had a connection with his sister, but they had a deal, and that deal involved using no magic.
“Who are you?” Jay asks in a low tone, swallowing down another growl. Part of him hated the idea of growling at Evie. But this wasn’t his Evie. “And why is my sister risking both of our necks to hide you here? You know that her using her magic is dangerous, right? That if anyone finds out what the two of us are capable of we’ll probably be killed. Well, I can’t be killed. But they sure as hell can kill her. Explain. Now.”
The young omega kept her head down, dark hair falling in her face as she scrambled back into the corner away from the alpha. No matter what Jam had said, the warnings about the strange alpha still echoed in her head, and with the bruise still throbbing and fresh on her face she really did not like the idea of learning if the warnings had purpose.
“I ---” The words stuck in her throat as fear crept up, rancid in taste and scent. She was trembling against the stone wall. She wanted so badly to be able to put more distance between them, but it seemed she had reached the end of her ability to do so. “Sh-she told me to stay here. That’s -- all, all I know.” The words were spoken in broken Arabic -- as if from someone that had been given little choice but to learn or not understand. “Please --”
