Breaking Plateaus
There are times that we reach a point that we stop seeing progress or no longer/ very hard to improve, whether it is Muscle Gain or Fat Loss. We end up in a plateau.
If you reach this point, you should start asking yourself. *Am I working out hard enough? *Am I doing enough cardio? *Is my diet on point? *Is my workout too much? *Am I changing my workout too often? *Do I need supplementation? These questions will get you the answers to the plateau and will help you break through them. We’ll tackle up each question *Am I working out hard enough? There are alot of things to consider, whether it is the Weight you’re carrying, the number of repetitions you’ve done, the number of sets, the rest interval per set, doing workout techniques such as super sets, giant sets, x reps, tri sets, circuits, and etc. You have all of these arsenal at your disposal to make your workouts intense. Like I said in the previous article, “All workout programs work” that is quite true and it is up to you how to work.
*Am I doing enough cardio? .Yes cardio, some hate it, some love it. There are times that we tend to skip it, some say that its ok not to do cardio as long as you count your calories. Somewhat true, but what people are disregarding is how it helps with you blood circulation. This is what helps with everything going on with our body, whether it is recovery to nutrient absorption. At least 15mins of Hight Intensity to an hour of Steady State is fine and will do alot for your body and ofcourse your heart health. *Is my diet on point? Some reason out that they are working out alot so they demand a lot of calories or they are bulking and they demand Extra Calories. This is one big mistake people make. They tend to believe that all those calories will be absorbed and used properly by the body, well you could say that, as most of the extra calories will be absorbed and be stored as fat. Thats right, Fat, not muscle. Your body can only utilize a good amount of calories depending on an individuals Lean mass.
For Fatloss, its simple Calories in vs Calories Out. If you do your math, you could hardly burn the calories you just ate throughout the entire day thats why you should monitor you food intake. *Is my workout too much? From this question, this will prove that OVER TRAINING EXISTS, unless one is on drugs that will help with recovery. You can tell if it is too much when instead of seeing results, you will retain alot of water especially on the midsection and no matter how hard your training is, it will just do nothing to defeat the amount of stress you caused to your body. However one can workout and slowly develop stronger muscle fibers till you can do things that most people will call “Too Much”. *Am I changing my workout too often? I have a previous article about this, and feel free to browse on the previous article, but to sum it all up. There are Pros and Cons on changing the workout too often. The Pro’s is you can try different variations of a workout making it more challenging, Cons - you can’t develop stronger fibers as you are continuously not allowing the body time to recover and adapt to the workout, without more muscle fibers, then ofcourse your Metabolism will remain slightly elevated but not the same as how athletes have by which they can eat more. because of the constant improvement of muscle fibers. Its one reason why athletes keep doing the same thing all over again till they become masters. Its not laziness, in fact it is called “discipline” *Do I need supplementation? I also made an article on supplementation and read it give more depth on the topic. To sum it up though, this will give us a an edge to our workout and at the same time nutrition otherwise our health will compromise together with our hard earned muscle.
