Fausto Fernandez Dominant Influence in the Evolution of Courtship 2014
I met Fausto last night, he was wearing a Robert Indiana T-shirt and was eager to explain the life long adventure that led to his showing at the McNay Museum in San Antonio. Standing between the Ace Hotel and a parking lot emblazoned with a Banksy, while bumming cigarettes to the downtown homeless, he explained how 15 yrs ago, during a break up he worked as an installer at a museum in Mississippi and a curator who worked there took a liking to his paintings. Now that curator is in San Antonio and was able to show him finally.
I was nervous to check out his work today, because about 70% of the time someone tells me they are an artist it is something I'm profoundly uninterested in, but I love the 30% of the time when I am. Really beautiful multi-media that I am going to have to try and see in person ASAP.
