favourites of 2016 - January
Galileo Galilei. I spent New Year’s Eve blasting through the entire single season of AnoHana with my nephew, and I spent all of January 1st listening through their discography. Just my luck to fall in love with a band a month before they announce their disbandment. When I listened through Sea and The Darkness for the first time earlier tonight I was in so much actual physical pain. They make such lovely music together. Made.
Daughter. I love the upbeat, confident? sound of their new record. I was less happy about the length of it, but seeing how far apart their releases are I’m just happy we got something new, finally. I can’t wait to see them perform in less than two weeks !!!
Boys In The Kitchen. Bivo came on shuffle when I was sitting in my sister’s girlfriend’s car on the way to spend Christmas with family. It was a really lovely time and I couldn’t stop thinking about that song, and I finally pulled myself together to listen through all of their stuff a few weeks ago. I can’t get enough of the stuff they do.
단편선과 선원들 and just 단편선 in general. 💛I’m completely smitten and I don’t really have words to describe it.
구남과여라이딩스텔라. Whenever I listen to their music I turn into sunshine.
Sarasa gel pens. I found one in the couch in the common room yesterday, and in under 24 hours it’s become one of my favourite pens ever. Will be stocking up on them.
응답하라 1988. I’m trying to get more Korean listening comprehension input/practice, so I decided to pick up a drama as well as watch at least one Korean film a week. I’m watching an episode a day together with my ex and he cries to every episode so that’s nice.
Tumblr’s whale tag. I love whales. :(
School !!! This semester is insane but also super fun. We have to translate texts from a 연세 book called 즐거운 한국어 읽기 3급, and while translating into Swedish is much more difficult than translating into English (help), it feels so nice to have translating part of my routine. (Whatever that is.) I have 4 translations due on the 31st, 4 more the week after, a presentation to do, hanja to review, preview and memorise, as well as homework and just regular uni work to do like revising notes and reading through seemingly endless pages of course literature. It’s fun.
Xiaomi hybrids. They’re really great and comfortable. Not as bassy as the Piston 2s are, but it’s not a problem, really.
씀. An app that gives you a word a day to write about. I use it for writing practice, though not every day. I’m trying. I just love the design of it.
지슬. A film directed by 오멸. It was mentioned in the slides for a lecture on the 제주 4.3 사건 and I ended up watching it after seeing it mentioned yet again on Koreanfilm.org. Such an important and fantastic film, following a group hiding from the military during the massacre on Jeju in 1948.
Political commentators on Twitter. Let’s just say I’ve been unhappy with our government’s decisions lately and some people on Twitter make brilliant opportunity of it. :-)
CSN. Love you. Thank you for helping me in reaching the life I want to live.
