Blood Promise (Vampire Academy #4)- Richelle Meads
*squuuuuuuuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* This book had me tearing my hair out for the first half. But the next half made me like Rose again. What is it with Richelle Mead? I seriously have a love-hate relationship with Rose. And Mead is responsible. This book seriously surprised me after the boring part of the book was over. Rose actually became a blood-whore for a week or maybe even more. I still don’t like Dimitri but I’m guessing he will either be back to his normal self by the end of the series, you know, with Rose’s conquests and her undying love for him. I don’t want to but I grudgingly appreciate her love and commitment towards to Dimitri.
Avery being a spirit user and Reed and Simon being “shadow-kissed” was a total surprise. It really reminded me why I started liking this series so much. It was really interesting. I felt bad over Christian’s absence in this book. I hope I get to see more of him in the next one. I really like Adrian now. I was also shocked at how Abe turned out to be Ibrahim, Rose’s father and Rose saying, “Oh God, I’m Zmey’s daughter. Zmey Junior. Zmeyette, even.” had me cracking up.
This book would have been a 4 but due to the frustration that I felt in the beginning I’m going to give it a 3.5. Mead has a great way of portraying the characters and she very well knows how to portray a troubled teenager’s mind.
This series has really been a roller-coaster ride till now. It’s sad that there are only two more books to finish. Only two more nights with Rose and her awesome sarcasm. I definitely will miss it.
Another favorite quote:
“If he wants to tell you, he’ll tell you. End of story, Rose. Besides, you certainly keep your share of secrets too. You two have a lot in common.” “Are you kidding? He’s arrogant, sarcastic, likes to intimidate people, and-oh.” Okay. Maybe she had a point.
