Happy birthday!!! I hope its fab! X
Thank you :)
Kirri how do you feel about the Kurt Cobain LP that's apparently being released later this year? So many people are tagging their friends all excited but it's not sitting right with me? I just feel like someone is exploiting the ghost of Kurt? X
Hi sweetness! I don't really have any strong feelings about it one way or the other. I kind of expected it, what with this documentary going deep into the archives, so if there's something in there worth sharing, why not share it? What I wonder is why people automatically assume it's exploitation when it comes to anything to to do with Kurt...whereas if it were anyone else whose unreleased works were finally getting a hearing, it'd be "a loving tribute to their memory and their life's work" or something like that. Is it only considered an exploitation of his ghost (which goes right into the myth of the man) if it's not Dave and Krist, or even Courtney?
I don't know. I'm just seeing that the way people treat Kurt in death is the problem with how he was treated in life - like anything other than an ordinary guy, who saw a way to benefit from resources as much as anyone else did. So I don't see much harm being done in releasing these solo works and treating them as a standalone album, separate from Nirvana. If anything, it's more respectful to keep a distance between them here.
Sorry, TL;DR: No biggy.

Can do!
Gigs. Let’s get the obvious one out of the way. No matter how I might be feeling or what could have happened during the day, for a couple of hours, it’s my time with the music, the people who make it, and the people who dig it. And i’m set.
My friends. I like to think i’ve curated a collection of some top-notch people. The best part is, they seem to like me, too.
My dog. He’s a little ratbag but he’s mine.
That first sip of coffee in the morning. There was a time when I made a face at the smell of it, but now, for me, it’s the taste of life.
Wandering. As much as I feel secure in having things planned out wherever i’m visiting, I also love scrapping those plans and walking, with no specific destination in mind - just to move and get amongst it. Now and then, i’ll play tourist in my own city and purposely take a wrong turn to see where it leads me. Some people walk to get thinking. I walk to be silent.
