BH6 Month: Day 18

Favourite Location: BH6 Secret Base

It seems just a touch superfluous, but most superheroes have one nowadays - the Batcave, Avengers Tower, the Spider-Shed... this, too, is a blend of utilitarian and futuristic. The hexagons make it feel almost TARDIS-like.

Okay! We a day late but we doin’ this! 

Day 1 - Favourite Location

The Sanatorium 

I was sacred ground. I was respected.

The air was cold. I saw snow every year, but in the summer, when the sun shone, life still grew, green and beautiful. Animals trotted, scampered, ran, through the trees that grew upon me.

I was loved, I was alive.

Then many men arrived. They cleared a space among the trees and rock. They placed stone after stone upon me. They built up and up. I was afraid.

But they built something beautiful. They planted things too. New plants that had never set their roots within my ground before.

More people arrived and they smiled and they laughed. They talked of the beautiful views that they could see from where I stood. They drank in the fresh air.

They left full of life and laughter, I looked forward to their return trips. I enjoyed feeling their boots upon my ground as they strolled through the colourful gardens that they had planted.

I was loved, I was alive.

After a number of years, people stopped coming to my grounds. Things grew quiet, lonely almost. But there was still the occasional visitor and wildlife still flourished, less well kept but still beautiful.

I was peaceful, I was alive.

People started arriving again. I was excited to be filled up with life and love.

But these people were different.

These people were dragged to my borders. These people were being abandoned. They were imprisoned within the walls that had been built upon me.

They screamed and cried instead of laughed.

They’d been sent here because they were unwell. Perhaps my air, my beauty could help them heal.

I had hope, I had purpose, I was alive.

My brothers and sisters around me were plundered and pillaged and I was left to rot. My patients could not be healed by fresh air. They needed more than my hope. They needed people to care, but no one did.

I was surrounded by death and sadness, but I fought for life.

My brothers, my sisters, they were crying out, they were screaming.

People had to be dug up, dragged out of their depths.

And they were brought to me. They were exhausted and scarred, their eyes haunted.

What had they seen? What had they done?

I wanted to take them in. To heal them, but they were taken from me by those who had prevented my other patients from healing. They were poked and prodded and experimented upon.

They changed.

They moved from life to death.

They became monsters.

They spilt blood upon my ground. It soaked into my earth. It rotted me to my core.

I was murdered, I was dead.

The stone lay in ruin, corpses scattered my hallways, rushed graves set up in my gardens.

But it was far from quiet.

The shrieks of the damned were imprisoned within me.

I was a purgatory, I was death.

More blood, fire, explosions, death, more death.

We screamed that night, my brother’s and sisters and I, we screamed with the monsters, we screamed with the children that were dying upon our mountain.

We screamed until all was quiet.

Silence.

I am dead, I am at peace.

Favourite location? (an anon asked this too): 

Definitely Caldera. It’s where she grew up, of course, but it also happens to be where the things of most political interest happen, and Azula LOVES politics. Hahaha!

It’s also a very vibrant and lively city, even during the war. There’s always something to do.

Favourite Location for CtM please

I was very fond of both Nonnatuses. In the old one, I especially the hallways. It looked so cozy, but also seemed like one of those places that always make you think about their history as you walk through it.

in Newnatus, stairways, clinical room, and Sister Julienne’s office are pretty bomb.

(This space just feels so efficient, but also oddly comforting.)

BH6 Appreciation Week: Day 2

Favourite Location: The Lucky Cat Cafe

It’s where it’s at, cats! Y’know? Have a bite to eat, meet the prodigy of San Fransokyo if he happens to be around! It’s a great social hangout!

Honorable mention goes to Fred’s manor house. Rich with detail, and an unlikely home for a guy like Fred.
