Fic crush : Basingstokes Diaries, by Chromat1cs (now Anonymous)

160k, magical au, post Hogwarts AU, First War era, mechanic/Sirius, editor!Remus

THIS SERIES. It reads like a 16 chapters of domestic Wolfstar, with the war in the background getting more and more present : "Sirius and Remus take up in a small and unassuming Muggle flat in Basingstoke, and if they close their eyes against it all hard enough it almost feels like this war might miss them." Spoiler : it gets angstier around the last chapters, and I still haven't been able to read the last two because I wasn't ready for a heartbreak, so read the tags carefully before reading. BUT, if you are not up for this, I would still recommend you read the first 14 chapters as they are glowing with love.

One of my favourite things in this universe is that Remus reads Baudelaire, and there's a poem in Les Fleurs du Mal that's called "La Chevelure" that inspired one of the chapters of the series. Because, as we all know, Remus likes Sirius' hair. Like, a lot.

Chromat1cs is now retired from the fandom, so their works are now under anonymous. But they still receive (and sometimes reply to) comments & kudos notifications. If you read their work, please give them some love.

Fic crush : ...And They Were Hallmates! (Oh My God They Were Hallmates), by Chromat1cs (now Anonymous)

8k, modern au, college au, opera singer!Sirius, student!Remus

There’s a new neighbor across the way during Remus’ most stressful semester yet, and he’s made a...creative first impression.

The thing I love with Chromat1cs is how widely cultured they seem to be, and how reading their stories made me discover new things, or widened my horizon. Well, this fic made me book a ticket to go see Rigoletto at the opera on a whim. I just really love to read stories where R &/or S are really good at something, especially if it's music.

In a little more than 8000 words, Chromat1cs sketches a whole universe where Remus is this anxious student, still grieving his mother, and Sirius this punk opera singer, collecting vinyl records, and just moving in across Remus' flat. I could read 100k more words of this.

Sirius Black & The Six, by BellaBabe

The hold that this fic now has on my mind.

It's about a band. It's about Remus Lupin that is too beautiful and talented for this world. It's about chaos. It's about addiction. Oof, all kinds of addictions. It's about a group of people. Friends. Musicians. Not only Maraudeurs, because there's six of them + one. It's about how Remus and Sirius fall for each other the second they lay eyes on each other. It's about timing. It's about how some things take time. It's about longing. Making mistakes, big mistakes. Finding yourself.

It's about so many things and it's done so well. The rhythm of the story. Oh. Yes. The rhythm.

It's about how love wins. Even when it seems desperate.

It's loosely based on Daisy Jones & The Six (I haven't read the book nor seen the series, but now I really want to!).

It's one of my favourite Wolfstar stories now. Completely unique in my mind. Probably my favourite band fic with them.

It's dark, but there's light at the end of it. And through some of it.
