An Open Letter to a Lost Dreamer
I know you want to fly.
I know you want to run further.
I know you want to jump off the waterfall.
And I also know you have the fear of falling. The fear of being left behind and the fear of pressure that would pull you down as you dive under water.
I know you want to be so much more. But you can't take away the fear of mistakes, judgement, expectations, failures and decisions that might regret doing soon enough. Your mindset builds thoughts that maybe you won't go as further as those who has the talent on your common path. You're afraid that maybe you have the passion but not the skill, or maybe you like it, but it's not what's best for you. Maybe it could make you genuinely happy, but it does not abide practicality. All you know now is to carry a plain, messed up mind---still confused on the path you have to take. It hurts to question yourself so many times on where to go, and it sucks to keep saying, "I really don't know."
It's okay, dear.
It's okay to be undecided. It's okay to not be productive every day. It's okay to not get that job. It's okay to get fired on that job. It's okay to fail prestigious CETs. It's okay to not take CETs. It's okay to be broken or stressed. It's okay to be confused. It's okay that you've started looking for yourself later than everyone else. It's okay to dream smaller. It's okay, dear. It's okay.
Growth is not a competition. It doesn't have to be a perfect journey written on a blueprint. It doesn't have to be a race of who ran the swiftest or who reached the line first. Everyone is capable to keep running and continue...and it's also one's choice to stop, give up and begin another journey.
We are in control of where we "want" to go, and we have our God who directs us which "way" to go.
Take deep breaths and think twice. Pray, pray, pray for big decisions. And if the time comes and you still think your incapable of the best choice, prioritize what could give you long-term happiness. Then, grab it.
We don't have an idea of what's in stored for us. But one day, you'll realize that it's God who took you wherever you are now. We just took the will to follow our hearts.
Remember that God's plans are always better than our dreams.
