Flavio Briatore (the italian fraudster errr manager💀💀💀😭) actually said he didn’t know. He said he didn’t know so many times he actually made it a litte sus 🤣 but here is what he said verbatim:
Fernando Alonso's manager Flavio Briatore has revealed that the Aston Martin driver is likely to retire from F1 at the end of F1 2026.
So, for now, all we know is that Fernando is staying until the end of 2026. Then, anythings is possible (especially if Newey is really joining Aston).
Now, should he really retire in 2026, a very interesting seat might be opening up.
Max could potentially move there (also thanks to Newey’s presence).
Or George could. Should his renewal with Mercedes go into the end of 2026 “only”, he’d be free to leave, particularly because Aston is still a Mercedes’ customer team.
It’s all ifs and buts and carrots and nuts for the time being, though.
