HI sorry this took a while lol this is my third time typing a reply to this because tumblr and my own stupidity kept deleting my drafts! also this is SO long help it keeps getting away from me. disclaimer that this is how i feel about it rn. subject to change and discussion as usual.
anyway..
the thing about pecco as a girl is that she would have all of his complexities and neuroses and ALSO a whole load of new ones! being the only girl at the academy (minus luca, who of course is there.... not entirely by merit. lol) and having come up through minimoto and everything as the only girl, having to be solidly better than all the boys just to be considered a contender, always feeling a little out of step with her peers in an even more pronounced way than irl pecco, moving to romagna at 16 (?) and being again surrounded by ("rough") boys and men that suburban from-a-good-family quiet introverted girly-in-the-wrong-ways pecco doesnt quitee get on well with immediately. or ever tbh. but she doesnt get on with the girls either! and also really doesnt want to only ever hang out with the girls and women that are around who are not racers bc then shes painting herself as less serious as a competitor. or whatever. am i projecting when i say that being a 16 year old girl was the worst thing in the world? maybe, but would pecco agree? yes absolutely. massive chip on her shoulder about EVERYTHING. just as (legally) aggressive as a rider if not MORE so. proud and self confident to the point of arrogance . but then theres that side to her that is anxious and self-deprecating and principled... desperate to have that respectful image - even more intense when she's one of the only women. possibly the first female champion? she is TOO aware of that burden on her shoulders. which tbh vale has had these long unhelpful talks with her about. so she cant be emotional or irrational or incompetent and being gay would just be. one more thing that would make everything worse. so she can't be gay. she's not. she has several honestly miserable relationships with guys whose mothers know her mother because thats what shes supposed to do. guys who objectively are fine and nice and she should just choose one to marry. and she doesn't NOT want to settle down but . she also wants to die when she thinks about it.
meanwhile lucaaa....god being valentino rossi's brother is bad enough imagine being valentino rossi's SISTER (tbh idk where i get this idea from but i feel like it would be slightly more stressed that she was his HALF sister. if she was a woman. yknow?). even more people calling her undeserving. drawing out the differences between them and luca's lack of vale's everything and ascribing that to her gender instead of the fact that they are like. different people. grew up tall in a way that was just constantly uncomfortable all through high school, and too skinny, and only comes into her looks as an adult so she has that kind of complex that experience gives you. but god everyone constantly commenting on her looks... umbrella girl jokes....... imo she dresses fairly androgynously. for comfort. etc. but she's conventionally femininely beautiful so it's like. hard to make it particularly masc. if you know what i mean. she's smart and technical and puts a lot of time into that and gets this bitter pleasure from always being smarter and knowing more than men expect her to. but thats a defence too, right. its finding a niche and a pigeonhole to put herself in before anyone else does. as vale's sister as the one who "could be a model" as one of the only women.... she's even MORE set on defining herself and taking that control. also tbh (sorry) the orthorexia... god. even worse. ALSO. that tendency to the domestic like that desire to settle down.. very much still feels that and very much cannot have it. cannot have a wife not when that could make or break her career which is already not as stable. god knows how honda would feel how it would be just one more strike against her being considered equitably for seats... etc etc. and shes angry about it. imo. angry about a lot of things and values her ability to keep a calm head despite all that above everything else.
as far as their relationship goes....... perfect imo for a very immediate sort of hey youre the only other girl here want to get too reliant on each other immediately kind of friendship that you sometimes get in male-dominated spaces lmao. imo luca is better at being one of the guys and also has known a lot of them for a lot longer and that both annoys pecco and makes her feel even weirder and out of place but ALSO is. helpful. because then she can stick by luca and she'll be alright. except that friendship naturally as they do is going to go through some shit in the teenage years and like a horrible cycling pattern for yearsss. both of them extremely competitive and there is an Edge to it as the only two girls. imo its almost unhealthily close for a few years and then it dries up a bit goes bitter a bit distant especially as pecco goes through her gofree in spain era (everyone maybe thinks she has something with jorge. horrible) and luca realises she really actually is gay. and terribly into pecco . etc. although they still. need each other and not just bc of the girl thing, theyre both confused and hurt and think the other is pulling away and have several weird spats and DONT talk about it. and then theyre teammates in moto2 and after a tense start they go WAY too far in the other direction. living in each others pockets. pecco is sitting on lucas lap they are dancing together in clubs they are possibly sharing a motorhome staying up late talking etc etc and luca realises she is falling in love and doesnt care bc its such a rush and theyve grown out of their teenage tension and she HAS pecco. and then she doesn't have pecco. like pecco is still around but she's being serious and suffering in motogp and idk has this terrible new boyfriend who luca hates and they. kind of stop talking AGAIN. they become this weird type of adult friends where you meet up every now and then to catch up which is BIZARRE when they are what they have been to each other. and luca still loves her probably and wants to tell her to break up with her boyfriend every single time they talk but worries that will make pecco retreat again. i need to stop typing words but thats uh. thats basically it

1. casey/enea concept (discussed at length with the genius @astronicht so i can't even take full credit) where ~2024 casey. post retirement post miserable divorce (from a man) has a kind of midlife crisis and decides. why not just go home with enea who has been doggedly flirting with her for years at gps at ducati events in the box - she's straight of course but she actually likes enea as a person unlike all these men she's been going on excruciating dinner dates with. and at least she knows that enea wants her and will make her feel good like. fuck it. why the hell not. and enea is so over her phase of sleeping with straight girls but also its literally casey fucking stoner so. no-brainer lmao. and uh basically they just. keep sleeping together. and casey has the worlds slowest most drawn out oh shit im gay moment while enea teaches her a whole world of new things :) and then like a year into it she wakes up one day and realises that theyve been dating for monthss and she loves her probably. lmao that doesnt cover NEARLY all of it but thats the vibe
