The Net Neutrality bill was just passed.

Before the room was evacuated by security, the meeting was basically two women calmly going through facts, public opinion, and the like, while the three men cracked jokes, skimmed over bullshit, and talked about fantasy football.

Fuck the FCC, and fuck the Republican Party board members that voted for it.

Net Neutrality Discussion And Vote As Of Their Recess

FCC so far has a 3 to 2 stance against net neutrality

Those against have literally said they won't take comments sent to them into consideration

They defend the lack of public hearings, saying they would not be helpful

Keep saying that Title II (what keeps net neutrality neutral) does not protect people

The ones against say that net neutrality hurts small ISPs

Ajit Pai, Michael O'Rielly, and Brendan Carr say that people will benefit in the future from the repeal of net neutrality

Jessica Rosenworcel and Mignon Clyburn share the same opinions I've seen expressed on here

Rosenworcel debunks that competition will keep the internet safe

States that for most households, there is only one option for ISP

After this vote, Congress must approve the repeal

So the Net Neutrality vote is today....

Guys, let’s be real. I work at a fast food joint and don’t typically make over $70-80 a week, which I need for bills. Therefore, should we lose the sanctity that is Net Neutrality, I won’t be able to pay for “internet packages”, which may or may not include Tumblr. So, we’ll find out today if I get to stay here with you guys or not, which I desperately want to. I haven’t been here much recently, I know, but I love you guys and I love all of the experiences we’ve had together as a fandom (even if I’ve only been in it around 3 years now). You all mean the world to me, and my heart breaks to know I could lose contact with you.

I’ve been calling and emailing everyone of importance on the issue, and if you’re in the US, I hope you have, too. I hope what we’ve done is enough. I desperately hope we win.
