FAERIE'S DAWN
RELEASE SCHEDULE & SEASONS
SO, THE FAERIE'S DAWN DISCORD HAS BROUGHT UP A PRETTY IMPORTANT QUESTION!
I figure about now is a good time for me to explain the whole "seasons" aspect of Faerie's Dawn, how it applies to the novel, and how the releases of the outlines vs. the novel will work.
(oh, and the actual release schedule LOL)
“WHAT'S A FAERIE'S DAWN SEASON?”
Faerie's Dawn is going to be comprised of a total of 8 seasons. Three and a half of them will be the novel's "book one" while the second half of S4 (season four) up to the end of S8 (season 8) will be "book two".
Each season within Faerie's Dawn will be approximately 50 chapters, 25 from the humans' side and 25 from the faeries. The exact amount will vary somewhere from 40-60 depending on the season, and the humans and faeries won't necessarily have an equal amount per season.
The individual seasons each have a certain "theme" their events follow, though the humans' side of the outlines won't reflect it yet (only the novel will). They end at a thematically appropriate time, and will transition smoothly into the next part.
Side note: there will occasionally be "extra" chapters featuring characters adjacent to the stories of each side—they will ultimately tie into the rest, and do not take from the chapter total of either side.
"WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE OUTLINES AND NOVEL?"
Besides the obvious formatting and presentation differences, the outlines will be released in a different order than the novel version.
Faerie's Dawn itself is a very non-linear piece of fiction, and that's especially prevalent in the humans' side. The novel version will hop between "the present"--1 BA in the timeline--and years prior, when the human MCs were younger. Those chapters will both be thematic with the current season and deliver relevant information that ties in with the faerie's side of the war.
Overall, much of the novel will be nonlinear and hopping from "perspective" (human v faerie v "others") to follow themes and tell a more dramatic story.
In the outline version, I'm writing the humans' side near-chronologically, and releasing it with little to no correlation to the faerie's. It begins with the twins joining Manhagen and follows the timeline in chronologic order, forgoing dramatic storytelling.
Similarly, I'm sharing "the others'" side whenever I'm unable to present chapters of the main story due to writer's block. As I'm currently imagining it, the "tracks" will be:
the Faeries
the Humans
Kilrey
the Hunter
the Faeling and
the Captives
As I mentioned/alluded to before, the "extra" tracks will be in much smaller quantity than the rest. At most, they'll amount to approximately 15 chapters each--which would be spread out throughout the entire novel.
"Kilrey" and "the Hunter" are adjacent to the Faeries' Side, while the Faeling is adjacent to the Humans and the Captives is to both.
"RELEASE SCHEDULE?"
Overall, as mentioned earlier, I'm mostly releasing the outlines in chronological order. However, I will jump between "tracks" (which "story" between humans, faeries, and others) depending on which is coming most easily to me at the moment.
I will prioritize staying on one track for at least 5 chapters at a time, but writer's block is a plague and my best way of avoiding it is hopping to something new.
I figure y'all'd rather a different track rather than no update LOL
PLATFORMS:
Here on Tumblr, Faerie's Dawn will release every Friday at 5PM CDT, with two every week.
To read FD, see here. To see individual tracks, here are their individual ToCs:
Faeries
Humans
Kilrey
the Hunter
the Captives (individual tables of content pending)
On Tapas, the outlines will release every three (3) days until it catches up with Tumblr. Then, it will update twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, at 5PM CDT.
On Patreon, I will soon set up a (paid) option to both read outlines early and read the novel version as I write it rather than having to wait for its official release. If interested in that, please leave a comment!
