Y'all are gonna hate me.
Look. I get it. You're mad. You have every right to your godamn opinion, that's how the world works.
Little background - recently I've been seeing a lot of news and movements rallying people to argue against the Red Cross' ban on gay and bisexual men or transwomen to donate blood. I understand that this sucks ass.
But along with spreading awareness of this, I have seen talk of trying to get the Red Cross to change their policy. The means to achieve this involve protesting, petitioning, and above all else, boycotting.
I get it people. You're mad.
But what you don't seem to fucking understand is that while you sit pretty thinking you are helping people with your social justice actions, there are millions of people who are getting hurt and potentially DYING because of you.
Alright, maybe it's not that bad. As much as you guys don't want to admit it, the world is not completely filled with people just like you.
But for every single person who agrees to this boycott, there is another person whose life is threatened.
You may agree or disagree with the ban. Personally, I agree with it, but that doesn't fucking matter.
What matters is that you are threatening other people's lives because of your stupid-ass "social justice".
You can be as mad as you fucking want. But do not for a second let that stop you from giving people a fucking second chance at life.
How hypocritical can you possibly be?
When I donated blood, I was completely 100% aware of the ban. Regardless of my personal opinion on it, I donated blood anyway, and someone, somewhere out there (3 someones to be precise) has just been saved because of my actions.
I'll just conclude by leaving a quote from the actual center:
"The rarest type of blood is the kind not found on the shelves when a patient needs it."
Be mad. Write your blogs. But do not, for even a second, let your ideas come in between you and saving someone's life.
