I'm really happy that some people have accepted and really like Lyraa. Originally I was gonna just write her story in simple terms as part of a bio on chara hub or something but with people asking me questions about her she's really developed into a fully fleshed out character.
I've been writing a fanfic, which is a great achievement for me. I'm not really a writer, so I've been learning a lot.
Below is a little bit from the first chapter. If anyone has any feed back please share it with me, and, if there's any suggestions on where I'm best uploading this, please tell me!
"What do you mean we gotta kill ‘em?!” Lyraa asked her professor with a screech. The other students of the Black Eagle house whipped their heads around in shock, not hearing the small dark haired girl raise her voice before.
“This is our mission from Lady Rhea this month.” Byleth spoke calmly, their expression neutral which Lyraa strugled to gauge. Her professor was around the same age as her, but Lyraa found the calm and emotionless demeanor of Byleth to be disconcerting. Lyraa could never understand what others were thinking at the best of times, but with her tutor? This was much worse.
“But why? What if they’re only trying to survive?” Lyraa asked angrily. “Do people trying to survive not deserve to live?”
Byleth stayed silent for a moment as if pondering the question and Lyraa shuffled waiting impatiently for a response from her tutor. She could feel her nerves tingle at her fingertips, and Lyraa had to flex them to try and mellow out.
“These are bandits Lyraa, they are not nice, friendly people trying to survive.” A beautiful young woman, attempted to reassure Lyraa. She glanced towards the beauty, adverting her eyes- Dorothea was almost too lovely that Lyraa got flumoxed looking into her emerald eyes. She did with most people, but particularly attractive people put Lyraa on edge, why would they be talking to her, she would often think. Dorothea continued, “But I must admit, I am not too eager to be bringing an end to someone’s life. Is this not something the Knights of Seiros should be handling professor?” Dorothea turned to Byleth with concerned features.
“This will be a valuable experience for you all.” Byleth spoke plainly, looking to each of their students. Lyraa traced their line of sight towards her other classmates. Some were worried and nervous, others looked eager to get started. Too eager.
“I will be accepting this mission with haste.” The youngest member of the Black Eagles spoke with enthusiasm, flipping her long purple braid behind her shoulder. Speaking english was proving to be a challenge for Petra, but what little Lyraa learnt about the young princess of Brigid was that she never let any challenge beat her. It would only be a matter of time before Petra would have the language mastered.
“I won’t do it! Y-you can’t make me leave!” A small girl with a purple mop of hair cried out from under a desk. Lyraa jumped, forgetting the shrill girl was in her usual hiding spot. Bernadetta, she thought, so shy but her anxiety added to Lyraas and they bounced off each other, adding to more anxiety. Lyraa took a deep breath to steady herself. She was older than Bernadetta, so, she figured, she should be the one to settle down first. Or at least try to.
“I'm not pleased with this either. I can’t stand blood, just the thought of it makes me nauseous, ugh.” Drawled a young man with the silkiest hair Lyraa had ever seen. His dark forrest green hair was so soft and smooth looking Lyraa wanted to brush it, and keep brushing it for hours. It looked like his hair would never tangle, unlike hers which was a perpetual mess. She steadied her hands again. Calm. Calm. Untill...
“Come on Linhardt! You’ll get over it after a few beatings!” Roared a spunky young man with short, baby blue hair, leaping to his feet with such speed Lyraa thought there was a fire. She (and Bernadetta) flinched, not just from Caspars movement, but the volume of his voice too. So loud! Lyraa saw flashes of light flicker in her eyesight as his booming voice echoed in the tall, candle lit classroom. This was starting to get too much for Lyraa to bare.
“Settle down everyone!” A petite young woman with long silvery white hair spoke with confident authority. Caspar whined like a puppy being told no and he returned to his seat next to the bored looking Linhardt. Lyraa breathed out again and, slowly, looked towards the young woman. Edelgard. Or rather Lady Edelgard, as Lyraa had quickly learned to address her as, having being sharply reprimanded by a tall, dark, intimidating man. Said man stood silently next to Edelgard. Looming over her, over everyone like a shadow. He wore a sly, chilling smirk that suggested he didn't need any more experience dispatching anyone. Hubert concerned Lyraa a lot. Everyone had such unique scents about them, most were neutral, or pleasant even, but Huberts. He gave off the scent of coffee wrafting around him, which alone would have been quite welcoming, but it was acidic and tainted with a sickly sweet scent of rotting flesh. He was always clean, almost too clean, but Lyraa quickly realised the scent came from his magic. Dark magic, Lyraa learnt recently, is completely different to hers. Lyraas water spells are cold sure, but they are fresh, giving off the salty scent of the ocean. It was clean, welcoming, natual. Dark magic was anything but natural. Smokey and stifling. Noxious. Still, it enticed Lyraa. Dark magic had mysterious vibes that confused and intrigued her. She wanted to learn to cast it.
Edelgard took in a breath, about to continue when she was, rather rudely, interrupted by the second loudest person in the room: Mr Noble Fancy Pants. Or, as he would be sure to introduce himself to every single person as, Ferdinand von Aegir.
“Our esteemed professor is correct! This will be a valuable learning opportunity, we should not allow this experience to slip through our fingers, as unpleasant as it may be.” Ferdinand extended a warm smile to all his classmates, but he paused to address Lyraa, offering her a particularly beaming grin. Was this an attempt to reassure her? He ran his gloved fingers through his orange, curly hair, the colour reminded Lyraa of cantaloupe melons she would sometimes, though rarely, get to try during summer back on the Danu bee farm. She licked her lips at the thought of their taste. Now, as tasty as his hair looked, this particular young man bugged Lyraa. He always wanted to converse with her at the worst times, and she would always be second guessing his sincerity. Was he mocking her right now? Lyraa had met him once in the past, long before enrolling at the academy. The meeting was a blur, on account of the bad heat stroke Lyraa experienced during the awful Adrestian drought of 1169.
Her memory was selective at the best of times, and it had been particularly foggy during that period, but of what she could recall, the nobles visiting her home down of Danu were incredibly rude and haughty. Often looking down on the people of Danu and carrying around fancy hand fans and lace parasols to protect themselves from the sweltering heat. Yet how was it that Lyraa came to own one of those fans? Lyraa’s eyes narrowed as she took him in. Of all her class mates, this one really did bug her.
Edelgard released the tiniest of sighs at Ferdinand's exuberance and Hubert turned to her,
“As you was saying, Lady Edelgard?” Hubert directed a sly smirk at Ferdinand who returned his glaring eye contact, the two having a silent staring match. As bad as Lyraa was with social communication and body language, even she could tell that these two did not get on. At all.
“Yes, thank you Hubert.” Edelgard started. “As Ferdinand … pointed out, this may well be a sobering experience but ridding these bandits will serve the people of Fodlan well. It is our duty as Black Eagles to protect our people, and together, we will rid the lands of such disorder to bring about a brighter future. Beginning with meagre bandits is only our first step towards the future I envision.” Edelgard paused for a moment to let her words sink in, then she turned to look Byleth directly in the eyes before turning back to face her class mates and continuing.
“We will accept this mission and we will come out of it stronger and wiser. Bernadetta, Linhardt, Dorothea, Lyraa. I, along with the other members of the Black Eagles, extend our unwavering support to you. Should you feel inclined to seek our counsel, do not hesitate to reach out to us. Please, it is imperative that we function as a cohesive team. Will you join us, join me, in striving towards that brighter future?”
Edelgard had a gentle, but stern aura about her. It was mesmerising, and whilst the three other nervous members of the Black Eagles nodded their approval at Edelgard, Lyraa trembled feeling a pit growing in her stomach. She really had made a huge mistake enrolling at Garreg Mach Officers Academy.

finally introducing everyone to my fe3h fanhouse, the ivory swans !!! this house essentially serves as an exchange student program for students that dont really have an affiliation with the three nations of fodlan. they mean… very much to me…….
i’ll put little bios of them all under the cut ! :-)
Aurora de Voll
Heir to the Albinean throne and house leader for the IS, she's been sent to Fodlan to foster good relations! She's very gentle and calm and also a huuuge perfectionist.
Freya Frederic Naess
Aurora's vassal since childhood, she's a massive animal lover who prefers spending time outside enjoying the summery weather they never get to experience back in Albinea.
Cassandra Nikos
A mysterious student who often talks about her 'isolated childhood'. While incredibly kind and slightly airheaded, she seems to be connected to Cornelia in some way.......
Florence von Giselle
A decade before the Academy era, the Giselle family was exiled from the Adrestian Empire after Florence's father's connections to the disgraced House Hrym were discovered.
Christoph von Emre
A noble from Dagda who is fourth in line to inherit the title of Duke. Believing that he will never come to lead House Emre, Christoph is adverse to the idea of growing up and gaining responsibility, preferring to spend his time exploring the monastery and looking at bugs.
Aiyla Daphnis
Being one of few survivors of the Tragedy of Duscur, Aiyla has had to look out for herself from a young age. Losing her parents in the tragedy led to her developing a deep hatred for the Kingdom of Faerghus and anyone who supported the massacres and she strives for revenge against those responsible.
Romeo Burhan
Romeo was an only child of an Almyran family living near the Alliance-Almyra border. When the constant battles and fights grew closer and closer to his home, his parents became fearful for their safety and as a last resort put him in the care of his uncle who smuggled them into Fodlan under fake names.
Benjamin Erling
Benjamin was the eldest child of a family residing in Daphnel. When he was ten his family fell on hard times and was no longer able to provide for their many children, as Benjamin was the eldest they made the choice to abandon him in hopes of being able to save their money. Since then he has fended for himself, making friends with other children he met on the streets, most notably his closest friend Romeo.
