Heart Drone
I've been resting into my own heart beat and sometimes it scares me and sometimes it's extremely comforting. I don't know how to relate to it. I think, "I feel it." But I can't touch it. I'm not measuring my pulse. And "it" is not separate from "I". That's my bloody heart! It's me! I think, "I hear it." But I can't actually hear it. I know when it's pulsing, with what frequency. When it's resting and when it's fluttering about. Its pulse rings in my ears, but I'm not listening to it. It's an ever-pervasive presence that drones on in the background. Somehow now it has a much greater significance and bangs on at more of a "Me! Me! Me! Me!" at the front of the orchestra of my awareness.
