THE POWER OF FEAR As I have grown older I have learnt to not be fearful of fear. I have figured out a way for my creativity to co-exist with my fear. In fact I have realised the creativity actually cannot exist without fear. Like everyone else I often sit and willow in bubbling pots of fear which involves my mind telling me - you are a one hit wonder, that will look awful, you have no clue what you are doing, you have no talent, don’t do it , stop and stick to what you know the best, you have never done that before, you are not trained, what do you know, you don’t have the time, you don’t have the money, people will laugh at you, you are going to be in big trouble ... the list goes on. I could probably write a whole book just listing all my fears. The real challenge is to continue creating irrespective of what ever my fear says and that is where the true power lies. Don’t get me wrong it is not easy, though I have realised if I have a strong candid chat with my fear telling it to be present but not disturb me and my creativity it starts to behave itself letting me get on with my job in hand! In some ways the presence of fear makes us work doubly hard. I have made friends with my fear in order to live a magical creatively fulfilled life. ‘ #FEAR’ and ‘ME’ Photo by @ronyhernandes I absolutely love this photo. We all will look at this photograph and come up with different interpretations. To me it shows ‘FEAR’ and it’s relationship with myself. I will try and explain why. ‘FEAR’ is mostly referred to as a negative emotion. I however look at it differently. ‘FEAR’ on the contrary has some positive effects on us, it’s only a matter of perception. Please hear me out ... FEAR makes us alert; it makes us attentive; it warns us and reminds us to be careful; it makes us self aware helping us realise our potential. FEAR can be our friend if we let it. There is no reason to detest FEAR , it shows it self in times of need when we need it to get through a difficult situation, in fact FEAR helps overcome challenges, the adrenaline rush caused by ‘FEAR’ can be live saving. To me ‘FEAR’ is like that embrace exemplified in this picture, it’s that invisible bond and love it shares with my core. It’s always there within me , beside me and shows itself when needed, ‘FEAR’ in an extension of me a part of me. ‘FEAR’ is not my enemy any more it is my friend indeed.
