punchline’s game , rule of rose ( 2006 )
“I don’t suspect shit, I know it was you, because you’re a fucking child.” Anger twisted her words as she glared at him from over the open lid of her chest. It’s where she kept her spell ingredients. This one was particularly hard to come by and helped reinforce the charms that sealed off her mind to outsiders. That kept nightmares from puncturing and helped her heal from all of this. And it was gone.
Actually, it was worse than that--it had been flushed down the toilet and she couldn’t stop the feeling that rose up in the pit of her stomach. What a waste.
She took in a deep breath and tossed her head back, just trying to contain all of this. All of this anger, this distrust. Had he always been this way? Yes. Maybe she used to be a little too trusting. Maybe she needed those two years away from him to flush out her mind. But he was here now. And god, she wanted him to stay, no matter how infuriating he was. What was wrong with her?
With that, she slammed the chest shut, spelled it shut, and shoved it back under her bed before moving to grab her suitcase and start to pack. Sure, her current necklace was holding up just fine, but she liked to be prepared for when it would break. And it definitely would since he was there again. Even with the reinforcements, it couldn’t stand up forever to a god.
