Loved Track #9 - T-Pain - Can't Believe It (feat. Lil' Wayne)
Do I love this song? No.
Okay, love would really generous for this song but........... fuck it, it is a serious jam. So I'll let it slide. It's like a little brother you let hang out with your friends because he doesn't embarrass you and your friends like him. While I'm bullshitting... I realize that I AM that little brother for my older brother... but I digress.
So, "Can't Believe It" succeeds on a smooth and icy beat and very relaxed pacing. It's got a simple but catchy melody and that drawn out "Yeaaaah" is classic. Then Lil' Wayne comes in later, pitifully trying to match T-Pain's autotune performance. Autotune works for T-Pain because he at least has some singing chops behind the computer processing. But Lil' Wayne sounds downright abysmal autotuned. And you know what? He still kills it. Listen to how smooth a line like, "I could put your ass out, oh, keep running your mouth," sounds. Like, the girl wouldn't even feel the threat of getting put out, it's that's smooth.
Anyway, this is just a song you can enjoy for what it is: a fun, simple R&B track.
