indy had never been exactly ... nice to their brothers. they were always cold and distant, pushing away their affection at every turn. normally that was fine. but whether it was because she’d worked through her birthday and ignored any texts or because she was lonely, she went looking for one of them. she found teddy first, fitting, since he took the brunt of their issues. “we’re getting drunk,” they said once he answered the door, a bottle of tequila in hand as a peace offering. ​

I feel like this moment, when the bell is hung and Goody’s up in the spot he’s to shoot from, is when it all sinks in- that Rose Creek is ready, that this is going to happen, that he’s expected to shoot and kill, and that he cannot do it. He’s finally left with his own thoughts, no work to do, no Billy and no opium to comfort him, and when the bell rings just as it will when the fight’s to start, it clicks in his head.

This is also the last shot of him before his encounter with Sam when he leaves.
