Daily Drabble November Knows Best Day Four - shine
Prompt – Shine Characters – Tweek/Clyde Word Count – 528
AU – the original Supernatural AU, in which Tweek is a feathered serpent and Clyde is a werewolf.
“Okay, man. I just –ngh- brought you up chocolate milk since for some reason, you won’t drink my coffee.” Tweek’s clutching the two cups against his chest, trying not to spill them. He rounds the corner to his room and nearly trips over his own feet. Clyde is leaning over one of Tweek’s dresser drawers. He’s holding a twisted paper clip. “Awesome! You know me so well, Tweekers.” Something wild and uneasy flicks at the back of Tweek’s chest. “Those are mine,” he says, without thinking. “Ngh – that stuff, I mean, in the drawers. It’s mine.” “Huh? Oh, yeah. I know. I was kind of chilly so I was looking for a jacket,” explains Clyde, even though nothing that Tweek owns would ever fit him. He tosses the bent paper clip back into the drawer. It clangs against other bits of metal and Tweek can’t bite back the hiss, because that’s one of his favorite hoards and what if something got knocked out while Clyde was rooting around? “Ngh – it’s not cold,” says Tweek. He shuffles over to the bed and shoves one of the cups at Clyde. His gaze keeps flicking back towards the metal filled drawer. “Here. You didn’t lose any, did you?” “Nah,” says Clyde, but it’s too dismissive of an answer to believe. “I was super careful.” That night, after Clyde goes home, Tweek dumps the second to the last dresser drawer out on the floor. He spends three and a half hours counting out every last bottle cap, paper clip, and thimble. Even though there aren’t any missing from the drawer, Tweek’s nerves are frayed by then because what if – what if – what if – what if? He spends the night counting and sorting out his hoards. The next morning, Tweek goes to school with the pockets of his sweat pants full of bouncy balls, rubber bands, and shiny tidbits that he’s collected over the years. It’s almost a week later before Clyde comes over again, and even though nothing went wrong the last time, Tweek still finds himself constantly looking over at his dressers, at the cardboard boxes shoved under his bed. “So anyway,” says Clyde, picking up a conversation that was dropped twenty minute ago. He crumples up the ball of clay that they’re playing with. “I almost forgot! I found this yesterday and I thought you might like it!” Tweek’s head snaps up. There’s yellow clay caked around his nails. “Ngh- you got me something?” “Yeah! You had all that shiny stuff in your drawers,” says Clyde, cheerfully. He pulls a handful of brightly colored paper clip out of his jacket pocket and shoves it at Tweek. “So I thought you might like these, too!” Tweek snatches them out of Clyde’s hand. The way that the paper clips gleam and glitter captivates something deep inside of him, reaching out and grabbing hold of something that Tweek will never be able to put into words. “I love these,” he says, clutching them against his chest. “They’re –ngh- really great.”
