Meet Erin, Brother of the Week

Lover of puns and dad-jokes, Erin comes from O’Fallon, Missouri, which is located in the St. Louis Area. Erin is 22 years old and graduates in May of 2017 with her degree in Early Childhood Development/Elementary Ed - she would like to work with Kindergarten - Second Grade students. Erin joined Phi Sigma Pi during the Alpha Epsilon Class and has enjoyed her time in this honor fraternity ever since being inducted.

Q: “What would you say is your favorite album, band, song, or artist?”

A: The Band Perry and Rascal Flats - well really just Country music, anything but heavy metal (Sorry Metalheads). My favorite song would have to be “I’m a Keeper” by The Band Perry, but some fun songs I like to listen to are “Eye of the Tiger” by survivor and “Heat of the Moment” by Asia.

Q: “Any reason for the last two songs?”

A: Both of those songs show up in my favorite show, Supernatural. 

Q: “Ah, so you’re a Supernatural fan! Who is your favorite character and do you have a favorite episode?”

A: Sammy is my favorite character, I adore the actor [Jared Padalecki] who plays him.

Q: “So what made you want to join Phi Sigma Pi?”

A: I had just transferred from a community college to UCM and wanted to do something besides going to class and going back to my dorm room so I decided to join, it helped that I already had a few friends within the fraternity too! Phi Sigma Pi also helped me get more involved on campus and meet new people!

Q: “ What do you like most about Phi Sigma Pi?”

A: I get this sense of family from this organization, kinda like if you mess with one of us you get all of us and I love that about us! This organization has also become a second family to me since my family is so far away now. 

Q: “You mentioned you are from St. Louis but has your family moved further away?”

A: Yeah last year during homecoming my family moved down to Florida! So it’s pretty nice that during my holiday breaks I get to go to Florida, we just recently got our house built so now we get to enjoy the state more! 

*At this point during our talk a bee decided to land on my face and listen in so I got up, and started flailing my arms all while holding my laptop in one hand and trying to slap the bee away from me with the other - it went away eventually but the trauma remains.*

Q: “If you could speak to your Freshman self or give them advice what would you say?”

A: Your planner is your friend - don’t ever lose it, use it. I’d also let myself know that it’s going to be okay. Hard situations will come out of nowhere but they will pass with time, don’t worry about it as much.

Q: “What’s something that can always put you in a better mood? Like no matter what the case - this thing happens and you feel a little bit better about your day?”

A: I love puns and dad-jokes, in fact I have one that I always love to say and when I say it I’ll instantly starting laughing!! 

What does a nosey pepper do?

“What?”

Gets Jalapeño business.

Featured Brother: Jorglynne Shepard

Today's featured Brother is Jorglynne Shepard, or Jorgie. Jorgie is a  nursing major. She is currently in her junior year. Jorgie rushed in the Fall of 2012 with the Alpha Alpha class and is currently on the Fundraising committee. 

Jorgie joined Phi Sigma Pi to become more involved on campus and find great friends. Her favorite memory is all Tuesday nights when she gets to hang out with her little and her best PSP friends. Her favorite part is that she has two years left of this amazing Brotherhood! 

After she graduates college, she wants to be an ICU nurse, then go back to school for her master's.

Featured Brother: Nora Wombwell

Today's featured Brother is Nora. Nora is a junior majoring in Social Studies Education with a minor in Spanish. She rushed with the Alpha Alpha class in Fall 2012. She has been on the Fundraising committee. 

Nora joined Phi Sigma Pi because she felt welcomed and was able to meet an amazing group of people who have the same values as me. Her favorite memory has been last year's Founder's Weekend. She says, "I had sooo much fun and had a blast spending time with my amazing Brothers."

Nora's favorite part about college has been able to meet so many different people. She says, "I have grown so much as a person because of the amazing people around me." After college, Nora hopes to get a master's degree in Student Affairs and work in the Admissions department after graduation.

Featured Brother: Brittany James

Today's featured brother is Brittany James. Brittany is a senior majoring in Special Education. Brittany rushed with the Omega class is Spring 2012. She is currently Philanthropy chair. 

Brittany joined Phi Sigma Pi because she wanted to be involved on campus and meet new people. She says, "Joining was an easy decision! When I rushed, I felt comfortable with the Brothers and I knew it was a good fit for me!"

Brittany's favorite part of Phi Sigma Pi is our diverse and great chapter. She says, "You'll find some of the best people in Phi Sigma Pi! I love that we are all unique and that we aren't a cookie cutter group!" Her favorite memory in Phi Sigma Pi is the camping trip we held last November that was put on my the social committee. She says, "It was freezing cold, but we had so much fun! We squeezed more than eight people into an eight person tent so it was nice and cozy there!"

Her favorite part of college is being independent and making her own choices. She also loves that college gives you so many opportunities to meet people. She says, "I've met some of my very best friends at UCM!"

After she graduates, she wants to get a special education teaching position at a smaller elementary school. After getting settled at her position, she wants to take classes to work on her Master's degree. She says, "Something I really want to do is to eventually get a teaching position that allows me to teach life skills to children special needs."

Featured Brother: Kayla Rogers-Sigetich

Today's Featured Brother is Kayla Rogers-Sigetich. She is a sophomore majoring in Computer Information Systems. Kayla rushed with the Alpha Alpha class in Fall of 2012. She will be on the social committee next fall, having previously been on the service committee. 

Kayla joined Phi Sigma Pi to get to know people and become involved on campus. Her favorite  memory of Phi Sigma Pi so far is meeting her Big, Josie Zanti, for the first time. 

Kayla's favorite part of college so far is the independence. She says, "Being on my own has taught me a lot." After college, Kayla plans to get a job in the IT industry and move someplace perpetually warm, unlike Missouri. 

Kayla also says, "I absolutely love Phi Sigma Pi and I can't wait to make another two years of memories!"

Featured Brother: Callie Edwards

Today's Featured Brother is Callie Edwards. Callie is Biology pre-med with dual minors in Spanish and Chemistry. She is currently a junior and rushed with the Omega class in Spring of 2012. She is currently Alpha Chapter's Campus Outreach chair. 

Callie joined Phi Sigma Pi in order to broaden her horizons, be more involved and help make an impact upon the community. Callie's favorite part of Phi Sigma Pi is all the amazing Brothers! She says, "I cannot imagine my life today without such a great group of people supporting me!" 

After she graduates, Callie plans to work in the medical field. She says, "At this point, I have not decided the exact path I want to take, but I hope to be in a position to help others!"

Featured Brother: Lauren Ficklin

Today's Featured Brother is Lauren Ficklin. Lauren is a senior majoring in Public Relations. She rushed in Fall 2012 and will be on the social committee this fall. 

Lauren joined Phi Sigma Pi to meet new people and better her college experience. Her favorite memory of Phi Sigma Pi so far is the Hope Prom last spring. She says, "I loved getting dressed up and dancing the night away while helping make memories for other people. Everyone was so excited and it made me feel good helping to make their night a good time."

Lauren's favorite part of college is being away from home and being independent. She says, "Because I'm from Washington, Missouri, I'm far enough to be on my own but close enough to go home when I want to. I also love all the people I have met through school and the experience I have had."

After Lauren graduates, she hopes to get a job in the entertainment or sports field in Public Relations. She wants to travel and see the world.

Featured Brother: Sarah Onstot

Sarah is currently a junior at the University of Central Missouri. She is majoring in Exercise Science. Sarah rushed in Fall of 2012 and was a member of the Alpha Alpha class. She is currently on the Awards and Scholarship Committee and has previously been on the Social committee. In addition to being involved in Phi Sigma Pi, Sarah is also vice president of the Health Fitness Association at UCM and will be teaching supplement instruction for Exercise Physiology next year. 

Sarah joined Phi Sigma Pi because she wanted to join an organization that was social while still dedicated to scholarship. She says, "I wanted to be held to higher standards than I already held myself too." She also wanted the support of great friends that surround you through good times and bad. 

Sarah's favorite memory of Phi Sigma Pi is the Music in Motion Prom held last April. She says, "I loved reaching out to the angels and being there to watch their dreams come true of going to prom. I was by far a wonderful night."

Sarah's favorite part of college is making new friends and trying new things. She says, "There are so many things that I have gone out of my comfort level since I have been in college that I would never have done in high school." After she graduates, Sarah wants to get a master's degree in Exercise Science and become a personal trainer, maybe even opening her own gym one day or have her own set of workout videos. She says, " I will do anything I can to get people in shape and realize how big a difference it will make on their life".
