Member of the Week! 

Meet our CSUN VSA Public Relations! 

“To me, VSA is family, supportive, amazing.”

This is Deborah Hua! She is your 2016-2017 Public Relations. She is super stoked to be able to have the opportunity to being a liaison between other VSA’s, create advertisements, and help share events for CSUN VSA. She chose to be your Public Relations this year because she be a part of something great. Her accomplishments with VSA is being CSUN VSA Treasurer for the 2015-2016 academic year and received VSA Scholarship Recipient Spring 2015. She also volunteered for VSA End of the Year Banquet 2015, NBN 2015, Winter Banquet 2015, Winter Retreat 2016, VCN 2016, and End of the Year Banquet 2016. She also performed in VCN 2016 in Music, Traditional Dance, and had a minor role for the show.

“My dream is find happiness in life in whatever I do.”

Deborah is a Psychology major, graduating Spring 2017 from CSUN. She has been at CSUN since Fall 2015. She transferred to CSUN from Mt. San Antonio College. You can find her studying at the Oviatt Library’s TCC or at Sierra Center. Academically, Deborah made Dean list all her years at Mt. SAC and she was awarded the Brandon Award from Mt. SAC’s English department in 2013.

“Caring, affectionate, creative, hard-working, and understanding!”

Deborah’s hobbies include Netflixing, adventures, painting, and trying new foods. On the weekends, she can be found sleeping in or working. Because of her indecisiveness, she loves to drink coffees, teas, and smoothies! She loves to eat everything and anything but she likes to snack on KitKats. Her favorite movie is any Disney movie. When asked what Pokemon she could be, she said, “Sylveon because it’s a Pokemon that relies on its friendship and friendships are the most important to me!”

Member of the Week Wednesday! 

Meet our President: Thunder Vang!! 

“To me, VSA is family, friends, and unity.”

This is Thunder Vang! He is your 2016-2017 President He is super stoked to be able to have the opportunity to lead CSUN VSA for this academic year. He chose to be your President because he is passionate about the club and wishes to lead CSUN VSA unbiasedly to a brighter future. His accomplishments with VSA is being CSUN VSA’s secretary from 2015-2016, founder and coordinator of the vocal ensemble for VCN 2016, VCN cast member, VCN Tradition Member, family Olympic committee member for spring 2014, and SDSU Film Fest cast member.

“My dream is make a difference in people’s lives.”

Thunder is a Kinesiology major, focusing on applied fitness and active lifestyle development and is graduating Spring 2017 from CSUN. He transferred from Butte College to CSUN in Fall 2014. You can find him studying at the Sierra Hall or Jerome Richfield Hall. Outside of VSA, Thunder is a student assistant with the Asian American Studies Department and Gender & Women’s Studies Department, Member of the Kinesiology Majors Association, Medical Health Prospect. He also is a family head committee member and family head for the UCLA Association of Hmong Students (AHS) high school conference. He interns at ALL PRO Health Center.

“Hmong, considerate, good-looking, calm, and caring!”

Thunder’s hobbies include music (piano, guitar, and singing), outdoor adventures (hiking, beaches, and sunsets), cooking, and gyming. On the weekends, you can find him studying or at events and socials with VSA or AHS. He loves to drink black coffee, oolong milk tea, or green apple with green tea based. He loves eat Hunan &Yunnan cuisines but you can find him snacking on Skittles. His favorite movie is the The Lion King. When asked which Pokemon he could be, he said, “Pikachu because he's the most famous one and I forgot a lot of other Pokemons. But pikachu because he's like me: calm and caring, loyal, but you don't wanna mess with me when I'm angry cause I won't go easy.”

Member of the Week Wednesday! 

Meet: Thinh Nguyen! 

“To me, VSA is family, friendship, and commitment.”

This is Thinh Nguyen! He is your 2016-2017 Vice-President and VCN Director. He is super stoked to be able to have the opportunity to be able to help lead CSUN VSA into a successful year. He chose to be your vice-presient because he wished to gain leadership skills and to have more hands-on experience with theater. His accomplishments with VSA includes volunteering for NBN 2015, becoming the 2016 VCN director, volunteering for winter banquet as hosts host/MC, being an associate, and volunteering to be the director for Film Fest and NBN trailer.

“My dream is to travel the world and become a movie director.”

Thinh is a Multimedia major graduating Spring 2017 from CSUN. He has been at CSUN since Fall 2015 when he transferred into CSUN that very semester. You can find him studying at the at the TCC, Cypress Hall, or somewhere in the Oviatt Library. Academically, Thinh was awareded the Student Honor Awards for his junior and senior year in High School. He performed in a show that won national award as best theater show at the KCACTF. The show also landed an opportunity to travel to Mexico to perform in UNAM theater festival, and was shot multiple live broadcasts at his community college sporting events.

“Friendly, easy-going, and spontaneous!”

Thinh’s hobbies include playing playing video games, gymming, writing, swimming, and singing. On the weekends, you can find him playing League of Legends or hanging out with his friends. He loves to drink Vietnamese coffee or boba milk teas. He loves eat the traditional Vietnamese noodle soup, aka Pho! but you can find him snacking on any kinds of nuts. His favorite movie is the Forrest Gump. When asked which superhero he could be, he said, “Iron Man, because I want to be a genius, billionaire, playboy!”

Member of the Week Wednesday! 

“To me, VSA is Passion, Dedication, Family.”

This is Tinn Ou! She is your 2016-2017 Secretary. She is super stoked to be able organize the year for all of us. She chose to be your Secretary this year because she believes she has the organizational and leadership skills from previous experience to help lead CSUN VSA to a brighter and better future. Her accomplishments with VSA includes being an associate for the 2015-2016 academic year, won best actress for the SDSU film fest, and was the Stage Crew Manager for VCN2016.

“My dream is to achieve a life I can enjoy.”

Tinn is majoring in animation and minoring in management and is graduating Spring 2017. You can find her studying at the Oviatt Library near Freudian Sip. She currently has a 3.39 GPA and was awarded the Promising Freshman Award in 2015 through the AAS Department. She was on the CSUN Dean’s list for the past three years. And two summers ago, she was a part of the Cal Arts Summer Animation Residency.

“Passionate, naïve, dedicated, driven, and anxious.”

Tinn’s hobbies include drawing, singing, animating, reading, hiking, and binging Netflix. On the weekends though, she can be found working at her mom’s donut shop, driving to new adventures or hanging out with her friends and family in Camarillo. Her favorite drink is milk tea and boba. She loves to eat sushi and poke but you can find her snacking on sweet corn! Her favorite movie is the Parent Trap.

When asked which superhero she would be and why, Tinn said “BayMax!! I’m super approachable and I will kill you with kindness and hugs.”

Member of the Week Wednesday! 

Meet our Treasurer: 

“To me, VSA is my other home.”

This is Jonathan Ching! He is your 2016-2017 Treasurer. He is super stoked to be able to have the opportunity to be create budget for the year. He chose to be your treasurer because he wanted a greater experience in handling money. His accomplishments with VSA includes volunteering with Moon Festival, volunteering for NBN 2015 in decorations and registration, volunteering and supporting VCN 2016, volunteering for EOTY Banquet registration 2016, and being an associate for the 2015-2016 academic year.

“My dream is to wake up from that dream, cuz life isn’t gonna set your alarm clock for you.”

Jonathan is a Mathematics major graduating Spring 2018 from CSUN. He has been at CSUN since Fall 2014. You can find him studying at the computer lab and for the summer of 2016, he participated in a research internship for undergraduates.

“Jonathan. Ching. Is. A. Dork.”

Jonathan’s hobbies include playing basketball, watching anime, playing video games, and listening to music. On the weekends, you can find him playing Pokemon Go. He loves to drink black ice tea lemonade. He loves eat steak but you can find him snacking on potato chips. His favorite movie is the Zootopia. When asked which animal he could be, he said, “A wolf. Because I'm a beast. Ahaha.... ha.....”

Member of the Week Wednesday! 

“To me, VSA is friends, family, and community.”

This is An Ho! He is your 2016-2017 Intercollegiate Council or ICC. He is super stoked to to be your CSUN VSA representative with the UVSA. He chose to be your ICC because he wanted our school to have a deeper relationship with our surrounding VSAs. His accomplishments with VSA was being an associate member for the 2015-2016 academic year, performed as a stage ninja for VCN 2016, and becoming the 2016-2017 ICC.

“My dream is to have my good dreams become real.”

An is a Criminal Justice major graduating Spring 2019 from CSUN. He has been at CSUN since Fall 2015. You can find him studying (or napping) at the Oviatt Library second floor. Whil doing community service with the County of Los Angeles, he received a commendation for dedicated community service from Major Michael D. Antonovich.

“Down, honorable, boring, hungry, steadfast.”

An’s hobbies include paintball, hiking, off-roading, shooting, eating, any sport, and anything new really! But, he can be found babysitting is his little brother on Saturdays or hanging out with his friends. P.S. Hit him up! He is down to make plans like drinking boba! He loves to drink snowy ice with strawberry, egg pudding, and honey boba. He loves KBBQ (but seriously, who doesn’t?). His favorite movie is the Fast and Furious franchise. When asked three things he couldn’t live without, he says he can’t live without the Triple F.’s: Family, Friends, Food!

Member Feature Wednesday! 

Brian says VSA to him is family, support, and friendships! Joey says VSA to him is a second family.

This is Brian Chow and Joey Nguyen and they are you 2016-2017 Media Co-Chairs!

They are super stoked to have the opportunity to film, take pictures, and make this year memorable for CSUN VSA this year. Brian chose to be your Media Co-Chair this year because he felt that he could use his skills learned as a Film Production major to help show what CSUN VSA is about while Joey chose to be your Media Co-Chair because he wanted to help CSUN VSA with its media aspects. Brian’s accomplishments with VSA is the friends he has made and understanding the culture of not only CSUN VSA, but also UVSA. Joey’s accomplishments with VSA was being a 2015-2016 Associate and a part of VCN Music, NBN Sound Op, and SDSU Film Fest.

Brian is a Film Production major, with focuses in cinematography and is graduating Fall 2017 from CSUN. He has been at CSUN since Spring 2016. He transferred to CSUN from City College of San Francisco in San Francisco, CA. Fun fact, he excels in the world of cinematography by taking advantage of every opportunity he gets. Some of the work he has played part of was being a Cinematographer for a 30 second school PSA competition, which won and aired on TV.  He also worked on a short film titled "Moment" that was shown at the 72 Hour Asian American Film Festival and other film festivals.  Other work related films include "Girl Talk," a PSA on teenage girls struggling with depression, school, family, body image, anorexia, bulimia, bullying, etc. Last job I worked on is a film promoting low-income house as a safe and friendly environment. You can find him studying at the Oviatt Library or the outdoor third floor at the USU. He loves to drink Honeydew Smoothie. He loves to eat everything and anything but he likes to snack on Trail Mix. His favorite movie is The Dark Knight.

Joey is a CTVA major, graduating in Spring 2019. His hobbies include working out and watching anime but during weekends, you can find him sleeping at home. His dream is to be rich :D! You can find him studying on the first place of the Oviatt Library. His go-to place to get tea is Bon Bo Tea House. He loves to eat any rice dishes but you can find him snacking on lays salt and vinegar. His favorite movie is Gone Girl. 

If Brian was an animal, he said he would be hawk because he likes to have the opportunity to fly as high as he can to observe the world. If Joey was an animal, he said he would be a koala because he likes to sleep in XD!

Member of the Week!

Eve says VSA is connecting, family, and fun! Clad says VSA is family diversity, and acceptance!

This is Cladellain C. David and Eve Ngo! They are your 2016-2017 ACE Co-Chairs.

They are super stoked to be able to have the opportunity to help build better connections among your fellow members. Clad chose to be your ACE Co-Chair this year because she wants to decrease stress and tensions within the club and increase performance and relationship strengths while Eve chose to be your ACE Co-Chair this year because she wanted to change the system so that Bigs & Littles are almost perfectly paired and where less issues occur among them. Clad’s accomplishments with VSA includes performing for Northridge By Night 2015, helping advertise and document VSA events through photography, interconnected social links, and act a mediator for minor club member tensions. Eve’s accomplishments with VSA is becoming Club Member of the Year 2015-2016 and VSA Scholarship Recipient Spring 2016. She also was a 2015-2016 Associate, participated in NBN, and acted in and coordinated traditional dance for VCN 2016.

Clad is majoring in psychology and business management and is graduating Spring 2017. She transferred into CSUN Fall 2014. Academically, Clad is a Social and Behavioral Sciences AA Valedictorian at COC, Scholarship Awardee for the COC Associated Student Government Directorship, Speaker and Scholar Awardee from the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association, CSUN Dean's List Awardee for Fall 2014, ALPFA Intern for Spring 2016, and current 3.99 GPA holder. You can find her studying at the USU Computer Lab, Matador Bookstore Freudian Sip, or Juniper Courtyard. Her favorite drink is an English Breakfast Black Tea with cream and sugar. She loves to eat sushi, poke, bbq wings, pad see euw pork but you can find her snacking on BBQ Pop Chips! Her favorite movie is any of the Marvel franchise movies.

She is a Speech Language Pathology major, graduating Spring/Fall 2017 from CSUN. She has been at CSUN since Fall 2015. She transferred to CSUN from Pierce College and California Lutheran University. You can find her studying at the Oviatt Library’s TCC. She loves to drink jasmine green tea with milk jello. She loves to eat everything and anything without bananas but she likes to snack on Trail Mix with Peanut M&Ms. Her favorite movie is The Last Holiday or Forrest Gump. Her hobbies include Origami, Pilates, Netflixing, Bowling, Adventuring night and farmers' markets, Instagramming, Snapchatting, Trying special foods like Dragon's Breath from Chocolate Chair, Milky Bun from Afters, Poke, etc. 

Both, Clad and Eve, agreed that if they can be any superhero, they would be Black Widow. For Eve, it’s because, although not many people consider her a superhero, any woman who can kick ass and stand up for herself is a superhero in her book. For Clad, its because she’s badass, hot, smart, and empathetic.
