AJ knew he owed Cameron this much, so he found himself at her door, DNA test results in hand. He took a breath before knocking. He still had no idea what he wanted. It hadn’t become clear to him. He didn’t feel any closer to a decision than he had before. AJ rubbed a hand over his face and waited. This wasn’t going to be easy, but he had to do it. He owed Cameron that much.

Lucas spotted someone standing outside his lab when he came out, holding three charts. “Are you looking for me?” he asked as he continued down the hallway. If the resident was with him for the day, she should have knocked on the door, or she would have followed him now. “What can I help with if you aren’t with me?” Lucas asked quickly, uninterested in wasting any time.

Lucas smiled when he saw Cameron in the lobby as they waited to go into the ballroom. Everyone was milling about, enjoying the drinks and appetizers. “You look absolutely beautiful. How is your evening going with that husband of yours?” Lucas teased as he kissed her cheek. Even though he had retired, he and Cameron had remained friends, and he still followed her career closely.

Lucas enjoyed working with Dr. Barnes. He felt she was talented, but not cocky. She was willing to learn, but also knew what she was talking about and how to deal with patients. He had requested her on his service because he knew he had a busy day ahead of him after taking the past few days off to ensure Elena was settled at home. “Good morning Dr. Barnes. How is Miss Alysa doing?”
