A half length portrait of a young Māori woman. She is facing slightly sideways and looking away from the camera. She is wearing a a black kākahu that is possibly made from wool with white tassels. The kākahu is draped over her right shoulder. Her left shoulder is bare. A hei tiki hangs from her neck on a thick black plaited rope possibly woollen.
