Finally have stories, which means I can update this bitch again! Thank God.
So hello and welcome to the transcript of Day 1 of the great trip to Florida! It was my third trip heading to the land of magic and gators, but for my companions it was only their first time. I tried really hard not to sound like a pretentious all-knowing tour guide. Hopefully I succeeded.
First off, we all had to wake up at balls a.m. to drive from our fair city to Grand Forks in order to catch our flight. The dudes made fun of my comically oversized luggage but joke's on them since I pack for basically any eventuality. Rain? I'm good. Parka and mitts for the flight back? I'm good. Extra space for purchased goods? Yep. I mock your tiny, underprepared duffel bags. But I'm travelling with green menfolk, what do you expect?
Anyway, we had a merry road trip of contrasting musical tastes, teasing, radio singalongs, and much squeeing. We got to Grand Forks in plenty of time, parked, shivered our way inside (oh dear god coming back to this frozen wasteland is going to SUCK), checked all our bags, observed all the families of small hyperactive children that would be accompanying us, then plopped down outside the gate to await our plane. Also ran into my aunt, uncle, and assorted cousins, who were on the same flight as us. My companions tried to hide me from their saccharine bubbly hellos but alas, they still found me. To say that I do not get along with my extended family would be a gross understatement, but that is another post for another blog.
So we chilled at the gate for a few hours, basking in our eager anticipation of warmer weather and watching Sherlock on my laptop. Finally after inexplicable delays characteristic of airline travel, we were on our way. Sherlock watching was resumed, followed by a brief attempt at sleep, followed by abandoning that attempt to watch Wreck-It Ralph (god bless illegal movie torrents).
Since I'm not entirely positive that my companions would appreciate being blogged about, I'll keep personal details and idiosyncratic drama out of this blog. Also from here on out we'll be using codenames... Companion #1 will be referred to as Timmy and Companion #2 will be referred to as Night Falcon. (I actually brought walkie-talkies to be used as alternatives to international data use. We may or may not have actually used said codenames in our interactions. I was Daenerys.)
Anyway, back to travel stuff. Landed in Orlando and promptly began sweating profusely in our wintery garb, then went to grab our bags and such. Also, could American security dudes BE any more jumpy? At one point I took literally one step past a security checkpoint, turned around to wait for NF, then got yelled at. Calm your tits, good sir, as paradoxical an order as that may be.
My family re-found us at baggage claim so I had to suffer through that again before being wished a good trip and mercifully left alone. Also, we became baggage buddies with an old teacher's wife who was also impatiently tapping her foot for her luggage. Turns out the airport got the signs switched and our stuff was at a different carousel. Good thing for them...you lose my teddy bear, I break your face. After that we went wandering around aimlessly for our car rental place, then eventually found it tucked away in a corner. The car's actually pretty awesome...kind of like my car back home mixed with the Batmobile. However NF kept saying it was "too small" and "lacks balls" while I slunk down in the backseat. Too small for him is the perfect size for me, and lacking balls...well, I've been doing that my whole life, so...
Anyway, after my handheld GPS finally kicked in we were on our way to the overly swanky and somewhat intimidating hotel. NF and Timmy kept oohing and aahing at the highways, sunshine, and palm trees while "Royals" came on the radio. Our lives are officially a music video. But yeah, the hotel was like way beyond our expectations and we felt spectacularly too underdressed and lower class to be within two hundred feet of the place. Seriously, it's a fucking RESORT. There are swan-shaped paddle boats. And dinosaurs. And a lake. How the fuck are we affording this.
Got checked in (was that a condescending look, check-in lady?), got to the room, more squeeing, more wistfully looking out of windows (NF got his own room and a balcony. Timmy and I got not that), then bitching that we'd have to pay for Wifi. Why is that always the case, that the nicest places have you pay for internet? Really brings down the class some.
Anyway, we eventually started noticing a rumbling in our tummies so we headed out to grab cheap microwaveable food, alcohol, and assorted breakfast goods, all while gawking at the shear American-ness before us. We passed a "wild, two-headed, South Floridian scooter driver" and NF just about lost it.
Got back to the comically upper-class hotel, made ourselves food (ah, the high class vacation cuisine of microwaveable Amy's meals), then plopped down on the sofa bed and accidentally watched the last half of The Walking Dead. NF is a fan of it while Timmy and I, not so much, so after the episode he went to bed so we could finish Sherlock. Got about fifteen minutes into Hounds of Baskerville before *somebody* fell asleep, but whatever it'd been a really long day of early rising and plane travel. He's allowed.
So yeah, that was it for Day One. Flomped down into bed when it became clear T had no intention of rejoining the land of the conscious any time soon (although he did briefly wake up, apologize for falling asleep, then immediately did just that all over again). Sidenote: sofa beds, no matter where you are in the world, no matter how expensive a place you may be staying at, will always suck. Damn you, NF, and your fluffy mattress that doesn't creak...
Anyway, that's it. MLWA - D
My best friend's birthday party
Was fun. My friend, kimi and some of her friends including me went to a wonderful restaurant/cafe called the Suki Cafe. We ordered some sushi, I ordered the Red Dragon. Not a lot of the people who liked sushi at the table liked it because of the eel. I ate it like it was going out of style. Before that I had a salad with peanut oil on it and it the tastiest salad with that peanut oil and than I ordered fish and chips because XD I'm weird.
I ate one piece because I thought that the portions wouldn't be so... generous. I forgot before hand that I was making my friend's gifts. I had made her a Harry Potter chibi head ring and I had also made her a pretty pouch that had a turquoise lining inside and white top lined with ribbon and stuff I'll post later if anyone is interested. ^^: I forgot to take a picture of the inside but it really isn't anything special the outside is much nicer. It was my first time making a pouch.
Anyways, after the cafe we went to visit her sister, where we talked for a while and she had opened her gifts because her sister is in the hospital and she wanted to share her birthday with her sister <3 My best friend can be pretty awesome.
Okay so let me explain something. Every year since my early 20's my best friend kimi has made fun of me for being a couple months older than her. So she'll make jokes calling me an old lady and stuff. So every year since than we have been friendly jabbing each other.
So in the little cards I wrote in the one containing the ring and three pins: Are archaeologists at your door yet?
and in the one containing the pouch I put is that dreams clouding your eyes or is that cataracts? Which when that one was read out loud everyone in the room laughed causing me to turn red. I don't know why, I just could feel my face get warm.
Then we went to her apartment to try to get her entertainment system up and we couldn't because there was a manufacturer defect and so she went back to Wal-mart which hadn't been the best to her and she had gotten her money back.
After that we played this Doctor Who game that I had trouble with at first... It was really confusing, I mean damn. It reminded me of Pokemon a little bit lol sort of. It was way funner though. Apparently I had some pretty choice cards, so everyone was attacking me. XD I had four Tardis out I just needed one more. Me and her niece were tied lol. with 19 points. My best friend won with a whopping 32 points. It was awesome. I'm surprised that I freakin' don't watch Doctor who. It looks very interesting.
Unfortunately, my friend didn't like her party... I had left out some parts because I don't want my friend to be looked at as someone who is bad because she isn't bad she is awesome. At the cafe one of her friends had recently broke her foot and she kind of has a Princessa complex lol. Her friend isn't a bad person...There is a reason for it but I can't say, because it isn't my place to do so. Anyways I guess she was going overboard with the asking for help and she was turning bossy or something. My best friend's other friends were sort of aloof? I guess. She said it was just like every other day and I said thats not cool man. The next time that I'm off and you're off we should go do stuff. My treat ^_^.
She said that would be cool and then she drove me home and so yeah. BUT she said that besides the negative she did like her party it was fun the ending was fun. XD With the Doctor Who card game.
Oh and because we were both too busy to see each other on Christmas she gave me my Christmas gift. It's these really cool sugar skull tall shot glasses I love them. Like a lot. I love sugar skulls.
Well that was yesterday.
My hip has popped out which is sort of a long story lol.
:D I have five days off this Week YAY!
