His hair was sweat-slicked, stuck to his neck and, when she tried to speak to him, he sounded more delirious than usual. He whined, trying to push her away, but she pinned his wrists and stuck the thermometer in his mouth.
“It’s broken,” he croaked, turning from the screen displaying a temperature well over healthy.
She sighed. She knew him well enough to know he’d fight her.
“You need to go back to bed.”
He whined again, grabbing the table like that’d stop her from dragging him away.
“I’ll lay down with you,” she promised. Slowly he shuffled to bed.
