The Chinese mountain cat, a small, endangered wildcat native to the Tibetan Plateau of western China. This rare felid is heavily dependent on pikas for food, and sadly, when farmers began exterminating pikas en mass to protect their crops, the Chinese mountain cat declined sharply.
Chinese mountain cats are one of the very few wildcat species whose eyes have a bluish tone in certain lights, contrasting with their thick, soft red fur.
