Orchestra of Silence
For a long time I had not heard such a silence
Of a sky on the eve of raining
Draining the gardens of all movement,
As eyes, ears are perked up, waiting
The birds of every feather are gathering their kin
To whisper at the twigs on which they perch
Gently dancing at the times of stillness
Between when the winds decide to swiftly lurch
Through an open window, the breaths trigger a chime
And on the horizon of these sounds,
A faraway marching band is drumming
As if marking the rhythm of heart of the moment I had found.
For the first time in a long time I have noticed all these things
And knew I could never compete
Against the loving harmony of Earth
And am content to listen at her feet.
For in this exhalation,
God has summed up the lives of many
When hearing this orchestra of silence,
I found within me a complete lack of sound
