he’s been on the mainland for about two months now and he spent most of his time avoiding the worst of what was going on. if it wasn’t one thing, it was another, soon enough learning that he’d only left one war zone to find another and even now / he chose to keep out of it. chose to instead travel across the lands as best he could, often times going through the least used trails he could be found and if not those / then he stuck to the treetops, all but completely vanishing underneath the brush of the thick leaves and such. for his own comfort, cahaya tended to travel while it was darkest, preferring to be awake while he absorbed what he did, thinks he has a better control of regulating it when he’s awake, and occasionally stops through empty war zones just to either recover or absorb more of the dark, negative energy to help himself.
tonight, however, there was no pitstop to some lost land covered in blood. there’s no wasting his own energy to create something new / no new knowledge coming in as exchange for suddenly expelling all the energy he’d collected up until now. no / tonight was the night that he’d carry on with where he was going. chooses to go on about his business, reluctantly following after yasei and wherever it was that she, the owl, chose to go. where she chose to go seemed to be to some water source, soon enough finding a lake — and at that lake, there was this bright light. bright enough to be noticed before the water was noticed / something weird enough to be found worth checking out. at first, it had been mistaken for the moonlight, something cahaya had thought to be true before realizing that there was no moon in the sky.
it doesn’t take too long for him to come to realize that the light source was a person, learning it once yasei, who had gone ahead of him, came close enough to the person in the water. a young woman / girl, someone who couldn’t have been too far from his age and — when yasei goes from flying to sitting on a nearby branch, cahaya can see that it’s a naked girl and he wants to fall straight to the earth’s crust. a few seconds pass and three steps forward later, cahaya’s in what should be her line of sight, something he pays no mind to, instead outstretching his arm for yasei to return to him and she does, settling on outstretched forearm. / @feelsofhiraeth, for chie.
