Hmm ☕ and!! Ahsoka and Rex's relationship
Oh I have SO many thoughts about them you have no idea. Most of them have to do with a post order 66 context (or at the very least, post Ahsoka leaving the order) cause like. that's what my big wip's on hskdhskdj but I still have some thoughts about their relationship during the war. Just from an out of universe perspective, it does bother me that we're supposed to assume that they're close when there's like no scene or anything that actually shows that. I ignore that though of course <3
Anyways! I definitely think Ahsoka and Rex have a strong sibling relationship, but idk I'm often unsatisfied with how people portray it? Especially early on in the war, like they had to get to know each other and come to a sort of understanding with the whole jedi vs clone, commander vs captain thing and people seem to just skip over a lot of that and immediately go "oh Rex sibling-adopts her right away, she's his little sister uwu." Idk I'm just always against the oversimplification of stuff when it comes to characters so seeing that all the time just makes me :////
And like, there's so much room for interesting character stuff if you don't take that simple route! For Rex, Ahsoka's presence can bring up a lot of issues regarding who should be fighting the war, why certain people are, what makes them all different, etc and it can be the start of him doubting the jedi, the order, and even the republic as a whole. And that's interesting just on its own but a lot of that I think sets the stage in a way for some of his character development later on which is also very cool! Same thing goes for Ahsoka, she's thrown into all this when she's still very much a kid and she's gonna want to prove herself to all these adults around her while still looking up to them and looking for guidance, and Rex I think is second only to Anakin in that regard. There's probably even a little hero worship of sorts going on in that Rex is this perfect example of a soldier and great leader that Ahsoka can copy off of, and she has to learn to stop always trying to impress or emulate him so she can see Rex for the person he really is and start connecting with him that way. It's part of her growing into her own person as well
Uhhhh I think I have said Too Much trying to answer this so I'm gonna stop talking now but feel free to hmu if you wanna hear more of my thoughts on these two!
