Imagine a life where every Dry Season, girls- some younger than these identical twins, migrate southwards to work as 'kayayei' (head porters) in the big cities just to earn enough to survive. As if the hustle of working as a beast of burden is not enough, most of those young girls sleep rough because they can't afford to pay rent in the big cities and end up getting raped, pregnant, forced into prostitution, maimed or even dying. Some of them never make it back home because they are too ashamed. Fortunately, the baobab tree is one of the few trees that actually yields fruits during the dry season. The trees are wild and since nobody plants them, anybody can pick the fruits, sell it to Aduna and make enough money to thrive on. Aduna @adunaworld hired me to make photos for them but after seeing what their module is doing to impact lives, I decided to help make share the story. I have never believed in Aid. There's no dignity to receiving alms. No culture has advanced by being spoon-fed by another.
