FEFERI: *Feferi had found herself spending much more time in the infirmary than usual lately. Mostly to cull three fightbeasts with one fork but hey! At least it was for a very good reason! FEFERI: *He wasn't online when she checked. It wasn't surprising. Eridan had told her the last he had seen of Sollux was in Aradia's block and although at least she knew where he was, it had also been a few days since then. Had he eaten? He would have, especially if Terezi was around to make sure he did. Feferi took her time heading back to the ship, one eye on Aradia's handle. She hadn't slept the previous night. Her restless mind turned their last conversation round and around, keeping her up. Was Aradia really a ghost or was Feferi so desperate to cling to any hope that she wasn't entirely lost that she'd believe something a chat client told her? Wary in her own thoughts, Feferi climbed up the metal steps of the entrance hull, her swimshoes still caked with sand. It was strange, coming on board again. It was like she was treading into some alien planet, one that was too harsh and cold all of a sudden. No safety or warmth in these walls. How could she have ever thought it was to begin with? For a moment, Feferi was struck with the temptation to retreat and heed the ocean's call again. Tuck herself into the cool currents and let herself ride them until she forgot... everything. And everyone. But no, she couldn't. She wasn't alone in this and neither were anybody else. Sollux. She gave him a promise. Feferi sighed and let her feet carry her inside. A to-do list ticked itself off in her thinkpan as she moved into the deserted lower levels of Atrium. Shower, hot meal, block. Slinging a towel over her shoulders from a sudden chill, Fef dragged herself towards the ablution chambers, and then later, a quick pitstop at the cafeteria for a to-go carton full of roast beef and pasta. Now squeaky clean and a pitifully rumbly belly, Feferi stood in the lowblood hall with her knuckles hestiating over Aradia's door. She didn't know if she was ready, in all honesty. But she still had to... Feferi took deep steady breaths and knocked.*

SOLLUX: -After Terezi had come, Sollux left Aradia's room for the first time in days. She had encouraged him to bathe, to eat something substantial, and he had stayed with her in her block for a time, but despite the effort and reassurance, he couldn't help growing restless. He had visited his own block briefly, but inside was... unwelcoming. Foreign, almost. There was nothing inside that felt comforting as much as it felt stale and lonely. And so, before long, he had found himself inside Aradia's block once more. Her bed remained unmade. It was better that way, he thought, the way she had left it. Like, at any time, she could come back and lie in it again. He was drawn to her desk, to the archaeology notes he had helped her rearrange. The last few pages were out -- she had been going through them recently, adding things. He read them, and then he shuffled the papers in order for her journal, the way she would have wanted. The way she would have wanted him to. His hand was drawn to the drawers of her desk, and he pulled them open one at a time, inspecting various artifacts and bones and boxes of trinkets. Inside one, he recognized many tiny, fragile pieces. Comb, levers, a crank. Unfamiliar in make, but discernable. It was the remains of a music box, the one Aradia had been determined to piece back together. The one Vriska had shattered to this state. At some point he had rested the box on the desk and began fiddling with the pieces, and that was when he heard the tapping at the door. Instantly he thought he knew who it could be, perhaps through hope, but maybe just memory of an instinct. Logic reminded him otherwise. He stood and approached the door, opening it slowly. There was no need for formality, nor to feel guilty, to feel out of place. Whoever was here certainly wasn't here to see Aradia anymore. But who it was managed to surprise him, even if he shouldn't have been. Then again, that was always what she had done to him. Somehow, she always managed to pull feelings out of him he thought he had forgotten.- SOLLUX: ... feferii? FEFERI: *She knew she wasn't ready and the moment his face peered through her door, the crushing weight of her own devestation came piercing a a brand new hole in her heart. She wasn't okay. Aradia wasn't here to make this better. Aradia was gone, changed, and there was nobody Feferi could turn to and cry about it like she did before. She wanted to cry right NOW but she held her breath and swallowed the ball of iron thorns in her throat. A whole ocean of (emoceans) threatened to spill over but all Feferi could do right now was blink, release her breath. Offer him the smallest, ragged shamble of a smile that she could muster.* FEFERI: )(ey, Sollux. *she said, the tired, sad, sad look tugging at the corners of her eyes and ruining her whole attempt at smiling. I didn't even... *Her voice is low and her breath catches for a second before she continues. He seemed so far away and she wonders if he can actually hear her at all.* I wasn't )(ere. FEFERI: But. I )(eard and now I am. I really... needed to see you. SOLLUX: -It was okay, a part of him wanted to say. None of it was her fault. But even though he wasn't quite as heavy as he had been before, the weight hadn't left his mind, his chest. Holding conversations, forming words, it all seemed more of an effort than it used to be. He pushed the door open a little wider, shifting to the side.- SOLLUX: ... you can. SOLLUX: -He gestured lamely with one hand to the inside of the room.- FEFERI: *Wordlessly, she ducks into the room and takes it all in. It was just like she left it, if only a little... emptier. Aradia's collection of skulls looked so sad without anybody around to care for them. Feferi was immediately drawn to it. Weirdly, her mind was jumping to the silly conversation they had about taking her skulls out for walks. She finds herself smiling despite herself, drawing a thumb over the corner of the desk.* FEFERI: I was out swimming. *she said, not really aiming to take the conversation anywhere in particular.* Taking pictures, finding seas)(ells, exploring... So all he could do was move his arms, hook them around her waist, and he pulled her close and held tight. His face had found her belly and she smelled sweet but he couldn't control his breath to appreciate it. He couldn't stop the tears to think about anything else at all.- FEFERI: *Her arms came around him on instinct, like he was always meant to fit right in her embrace. It didn't matter how it was, she just wanted to hold him. This time, there wasn't a gentleness so much as a fierce need to protect him. Feferi held him tight and pressed her cheek to the top of his head, letting him tremble and shake and fall apart in her arms.
