Oh my glob! Ah Dory I love you! Okay let's give this a try..

Sollux sighed heavily as he walked down to the large tank holding the only creature that could brighten his day after yet another tantrum from the insufferable Erifish. Feferi smiled at him and immediately leaned against the glass to get as close to the human as she could. Sollux chuckled and decided to make her job a little easier by standing on a nearby stool and the princess quickly rose to the top sticking her head above the water where the two finally discussed their day.

Your name is Karkat Vantas, and you are a new janitor at the local aquarium. Since you’re the newbie your coworkers often dump some of their jobs onto you, which, in turn, leaves you staying longer than everyone else. God damn those nook sniffers taking advantage of you like that.

You shuffle through the doors to the next exhibit, the only one you have yet to sweep up. One more and you can finally lock up and go home to some much needed rest

You push through the double doors and glance around. This is a room you’ve never had to clean before, so you’re not all that familiar with it. There is one large tank on the other side of the room with a few smaller ones along the sides. You heave a small tired sigh and set to work. 

You slowly work your way around the room glancing into the tanks as you go, trying to ignore how tired you are from all the extra work. You near the largest tank in the room and take your usual quick look at it. A few small fish here and there with all kinds of coral along the bottom. Nothing that would require a large tank though. “Weird…” you thought to yourself, shrugging. You turn back to your broom to finish up sweeping when something large moves out of the corner of your eye. 

Turning back to the tank quickly you come face to face with a…girl? Startled you stumble backwards, letting out a small squeak of surprise. She giggles and wiggles her fingers at you in greeting. Still a little stunned you wave back to her. What was a girl doing in the fish tank?

Looking at her more now you notice that she has a tail instead of legs. A…a mertroll? You had thought those were extinct, what was one doing in the local aquarium? She moved her lips, and looked like she was trying to talk to you. But the glass of the tank was so thick that you couldn’t hear what she had said. 

A confused look must have fallen on your face because she tried to talk to you again. This time you heard some very muffled sounds but still could not hear anything she was saying. You moved closer and tried to listen harder to what she was saying. She tried to talk, more like yell now, yet again but you still couldn’t make out anything she was saying. You shake your head telling her that you still cant hear her. Her face falls, clearly upset that she couldn’t get her words through the glass to you. 

You quickly put a smile on your face that tells her it’s ok. For whatever reason you didn’t like seeing her upset. “Wow.” you thought to yourself. She was really beautiful. And so graceful looking. 

You stared at her in aw, and she smiled back at you until she started to get uncomfortable and back away. 

“Wait! Don’t go!” You say quickly, rushing up and placing your hands on the tank. She tilts her head but swims back towards you, settling herself on the floor of the tank. You smile at her and she smiles back. Thinking quickly you pull out a napkin and a pen from your pocket and write; “CAN YOU READ?” then hold it up to her. She looks at it then nods. All of your exhaustion is gone with the excitement of being able to talk with this beautiful mertroll. You quickly scrawl out another question asking if she has a name. She nods in response again, then you ask her what it is. She gathers some sand in front of herself then writes out her name upside down and backwards so that you can read it. 

“Feferi…Peixes…” you breathe as you read it aloud to yourself. 

“THAT’S A NICE NAME.”  you write to her. She giggles and you even see her blush a little bit as she nods her head to thank you. That’s so cute!

You continue on like this for a little bit, infatuated with this girl. You can’t believe that something like this was even happening to you! It was like a story out of one of the movies you liked so much. 

Suddenly another mertroll appeared from the back of the tank and swam over to Feferi. However, this one was a male and he looked angry. He had black hair like all trolls do, but there was a purple streak in his hair as well. He was also wearing glasses and looked like a massive douche. 

“Two mertrolls?” you thought to yourself “What the hell, where did the aquarium get two mertrolls!”

The new mertroll started talking to Feferi while throwing quick death glares at you occasionally,and you glared right back at him the entire time.

The two mertrolls now looked like they were arguing with each other, and it was escalating quickly. He ended up grabbing her arm and trying to pull her away. She fought with him for a bit because of that but eventually gave up and let him guide her back to where he had come from. Before they vanished she looked back to you and gave you an apologetic smile. You waved goodbye to her as the two disappeared to the back of the tank.

You sat in slightly stunned silence as you went over all that had just happened in your head. A stupid grin spread over your face as you picked up your broom and left the exhibit. As you locked up you though about this girl and how you really couldn’t wait to see her and talk with her again. You rushed back to your hive and got the best sleep you have had in ages. You woke up refreshed and anxious to go back to your job, in hopes of seeing this wonderful girl again.
