Feiffer on Nixon by Jules Feiffer
RIP Jules Feiffer, 1/26/29 -1/17/25
Unfortunately I don’t have any illustrations in my files featuring a likeness of Feiffer, (I can count the occasions where I was asked to draw a cartoonist on one hand). However, I’ve got this 1996 comic strip where I tried my best to mimic Feiffer’s uniquely loose style, (a tall order for me, given my allergy to looseness).
Dreamed-up and scripted by Russ Smith, John Strausbaugh & possibly other members of New York Press’ edit crew, the strip ran as a house ad in the paper, and captures the rivalry between NYPress and it’s main rival in NYC’s alt weekly scene, the Village Voice.

“Tollbooth,” about a bored boy’s fantastical journey, became a beloved touchstone of children’s literature when it was first published in 1961.
The Novel That Made Jules Feiffer Ignore His Family on Vacation The cartoonist, whose new picture book is “Smart George,” read Michael Chabon’s “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay” on a trip to the Dominican Republic: “For five days, I barely moved from the beach chair.”
