December 22, 1888. Today, I asked Talya Aleichem to marry me. I’ve been in love with her for years– ever since the days when Abba would send me over to the Aleichems’ to spend the day helping Talya’s father. So when she rolled her eyes and said yes, I lifted her and spun around in joy.
Tucked between the pages, an excerpt from a local newsletter: On this day, January the tenth of the year 1889, Gabriel Feiner, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. David Feiner, married Talya Elina Aleichem, first daughter of Eliezer and Anna Aleichem. A blessing on their house.
